Grayscale with alpha channel TIF does not import

In Photoshop CS, create a new TIF using preset
NTSC DV 720 x 480
Color Mode: Grayscale

Convert background to a layer.
Add an alpha channel.
Save as TIF with checked Alpha and checked Layers

Import into PPro 7.0

PPro gives a file import failure error.

Use a PNG file instead. Or don't use grayscale. Just use blacks and grays, but keep it in the regular RGB color space.

Odd problem though. I can duplicate it in 1.5
