So, I take it CS4 Bridge is not 64bit?

The reason I ask is that when I insert a memory card, auto-play for Bridge isn't activated. It is for LR 64bit. So, I'm assuming that Bridge is not 64 bit.

Why and will it be in a future (free) upgrade?

You don't just snap your fingers and make something 64 bit. Further, not
every application is going to see any benefit from it.

If Bridge does go 64 bit it won't be until CS5 at the earliest.

Bob, if you didn't notice someone "snapped" their fingers and CS4 and LR is 64 bit.

I was just askin'

Sheesh...

And I answered you. What type of information were you looking for?

I'm amazed at the lack of understanding that goes into putting these
applications together. People actually do think it's a simple matter to
"port" applications. It's not.

I have no idea what the plans are for Bridge and 64bit. Having said that, what you really want is for Adobe Photo Downloader (APD) to be 64bit. Please add a feature request to the Bridge product forum.

How about "information" which neither post offered. I know it's difficult to write an app in 64bit. I know it's difficult to write it in 32bit, and I'm sure 20 years ago writing one in 16bit was a PITA, too. When I programmed basic to make one little block move two blocks over, I would have much rathered been drinking a beer on a quiet beach somewhere. But all this stuff happened (even the beer drinking).

Now, Photoshop and LR is 64bit. I wondered why and when Bridge might do the same thing. We were given a "why" PS is 32bit for Macs instead of 64bit. I just wondered if there were a "why" for Bridge--especially when LR is 64bit and is very Bridge-like.

I was looking for information, not castigation. Simple request, not that deep.

and i wasn't "castigating" you. i was simply pointing out that this stuff is hard work. to move a couple major apps over to 64 bits in that time frame (18 mos.) is huge. "snap your fingers" is the only thing i was taking issue with...

Dave, my comments weren't intended for you. I apologize for not making that clear.

I'm still trying to figure out why Lightroom wasn't included with the CS4 Master Collection.
