recently, I have problems trying to print some of my PSD files. It tells me that there is NO printer installed. I have tried to flatten, save as, all to no avail. Yet other files will print ok.

I thought that the files might be corrupt, so copied them to another installation. On this computer they printed ok.

I am working in Vista, with 4GB memory and heaps of disk space.

What could be the problem?

What are the sources of the files? I remember having such issues with PNG files created on a Mac and then imported as layers into a PSD way back during the development phase. Apparently somehow it messed up the internal structure of the document somehow... Those issues should have been fixed, though.

Hi Mylenium,

the source files are Canon Raw images.

I have had exactly the same error with Vista and a HP Z3100ps printer.

I'm guessing right now because I could not solve it when it happened on TWO computers.

Is it possible that the file's active layer is set to a text layer using a uninstalled font ?

I'm planning on deleting the printer, and re-adding it to see if this solves my problem.

No, the font is not uninstalled. If I copy merged and then paste into a new file, everything is ok.

I have tried deleting layer after layer, saving in between, with no result.

However, whilst writing this reply, I decided to try and copy each layer into a new file and then saving it. This worked!
