Hi Group,

I have a question on the unsharp mask filter. I have a couple pictures
that I want to sharpen, but I just want to focus in on a specific
area. Thanks for any tips.

Select the area and alt-J to make a new layer with just the selection.
Sharpen the selection. You can also blur (or whatever) the base layer.

OK, you've got my curiosity up. Where do you "just select the Sharpen
option?" I'm in CS4 right now, and with the brush selected I don't see a
"Sharpen option" anywhere. What am I missing?

Looks like a triangle in the tool bar (LHS) 13 down - between the paint
bucket and Dodge, burn and sponge tools - blur, sharpen and smudge
tools are in there.

create a new layer > use unsharp mask on that layer > create a layer
mask > mask out the parts of the layer you do not want sharpened
