'Open with' problem

Hi. I haven't posted here for a long time, but I wonder if anyone can
advise on this.

When I right-click on a graphics file and choose 'Open with ... Adobe
Photoshop', this action starts up the PS programme OK, but the actual
graphics file I have clicked on does not itself open. I have to browse
for it from Photoshop file menu when the programme has opened, which
is annoying if the file is buried deep in a sub-sub-subfolder
somewhere.

PS is the only programme that does this. Anyone else had the same, and
know how to resolve it? I use XP, and I have a pretty old version of
PS (v.6), which continues to do all I need.
