I have a jpg file that was created with Photoshop CS4 which will not open in any other picture viewer that I can find. This picture is high res and needs to remain so.

Can anyone cite known reasons for this phenomenon?

Cheers,

Leon

How was it saved ... with Save As, or with Save for Web. Try the latter for a more compliant image.

resaving as jpg will degrade the image... use tif.

Leon - it's possible that the image is too large for other viewers, or that it is CMYK (that most JPEG viewers don't handle), or that it contains more metadata than other viewers can handle....
