Hello,

I am trying to import an HD video file into Photoshop CS4 and I am getting a white screen.

The timeline shows the clip and is at the correct length, but no image is appearing.

The file is an .avi file.

Any ideas?

I have an ATI 4850 video card.

Thanks.

Have you updated Photoshop and your video card drivers?

Does your whole display go white, or do you mean that the document imports as solid white?

Just where the video should be goes white.

Thanks

Ok, so the document imports as solid white.
That sounds like it could be a problem with the codec involved.

Do you know anything about the file, like what codec it uses?

Yes,

The fiel is a Canopus HQ HD video file.

I have Edius, the NLE made by Canopus and a video acceleration card as well.

The card has a video output from photoshop to me production monitor which works, but it also outputs the white image.

I have tride just a normal SD .avi file and it was white upon import as well.

I just opened a quicktime file with success...

Can I tell photoshop to find a codec?

Photoshop should have available any codec that QuickTime has access to.
Photoshop doesn't handle the codecs itself.

Sounds like I am out of luck as Quicktime on a PC is an afterthought.

Yeah, Canopus stuff has never been particularly well-behaving or compatible compared to other media formats and architectures, so I guess indeed you will not be able to use your files directly.
