I see that Adobe has a CS4 upgrade at $199. I cannot find anything labeled Student upgrade of Extended from CS3 to CS4. Is the $199 the lowest price available? The site I looked at stated "full" and did not state upgrade.
Thanks
Bob

Academic and student software is priced so low already that there are no
upgrades...just full licenses.

Are you sure Buko? It is my understanding that they only offer the Extended version as a student edition.

Thanks to all that replied.
It appears from what all of you are saying that the student upgrade from CS3 Ext is $199 and it will not get any less expensive.
Appreciate your replies.

You might save a dollar or two from a reseller over the Adobe Education store price, but that's about it. Or maybe not. My reseller www.creationengine.com, lists it at 199, same as Adobe store.

does anyone know if the activation process of the student ed is different than other versions. As I read on this website, the student version requires acad proof to buy but not sure if it's required to activate.
Thanks for any answer

Same activation process. You will be asked for your student ID when you purchase. After that, you are pretty much the same as any other user.

Every Adobe Academic version I've ever seen (since V2.5) is essentially a 'first purchase price deal' after which normal update pricing applies. It's the same as if you had bought a full non-academic version.

The Academic price is higher than the update price to discourage students and teachers from continually buying Academic, or for regular users, who might quality, from trying to save a few bucks by getting the Academic version.

Once a student or teacher has bought the Academic version they just update it the same way the rest of the world. The Academic pricing simply helps students and teachers to save a few bucks while jumping onto the "Adobe 18-month-update-cycle" income train.

Pretty close to the same, I think. I know the school I taught at bought continual new licenses instead of updates, as the price was a few dollars lower for them.
