Hi all

Since I have updated to 10.5.5 a few months ago, photoshop (both CS and CS2) quits unexpectedly... as soon as it launches.

Keeps doing that all the time, I have tried re-installing Photoshop but that doesn't help.
I even re-installed system (erased n Install)

I sense that it might be a font problem but I am not sure and I don't know how to verify this, esp that Illustrator 11 works fine and I have never had any problem whatsoever with it since 10.5.5.
So I don't know what to do.
Pls help

I use Linotype Font Explorer X.

thanks

neither application is supported under Leopard and never will be so if you can get them to work you're lucky. You don't say what computer you are using.

this could also be the TWAIN.plugin this is covered in the FAQs.

Most common causes: Bad TWAIN driver, bad printer driver, or a corrupt font

Oops Sorry Buko

I have an imac G4 (Flat panel) 1GHz

I just de-activated the TWAIN plugin by putting a Tilde ~ in front of it.
(following a suggestion of yours in faq's concerning other Photoshop crashing)

It seems to be working fine now, so I guess that I'm lucky…

But what is Twain plugin? And can this action cause problems in the future?

Thanks to all a lot for your time and your invaluable help.

rubina,

The TWAIN interface is supposed to be a uniform standard linking applications (e.g., Photoshop) and image acquisition devices (e.g., scanners). Unfortunately, some of the scanner manufacturers do not properly implement the standard.

The "problem" solved by placing a tilde before the TWAIN plug-in is that you disable the interface and possible conflict with your scanner software. The workaround is to use your scanner software as a free-standing utility, which offers the benefit of allowing you to scan, yet use Photoshop for something else at the same time.

Ramón,

As the subject does periodically come up, post #4 has been added to the FAQs.
