CS2 includes Imageready. there is no Imageready in CS4 if you use IR you definately want to keep CS2 around.
Is there somewhere in CS2 that I can see my serial number?
The SN is on the case of your original CS2 CD but is not shown in full on your computer.
Is there somewhere in CS2 that I can see my serial number?
What Ann said. Not on the computer. The number on the splash screen ("About Photoshop") is deliberately truncated to discourage software piracy.
If I dislike CS4, can I "downgrade" back to CS2 without having the disks?
No. You must have proof of ownership, end of story. If your ownership is not bombproof...
I'm just going to assume that "the dog ate the discs" and you properly registered the CS2 software with Adobe.
You can simply contact Adobe and get the serial number from them, and (I believe) you can also get a replacement set of discs. Otherwise, you're looking at purchasing full versions of CS4 software.

It's a funny thing. And I don't want to single out Tiffany as a surprising number of folks have purchased hundreds or thousands of dollars in software, yet treat it as casually as so many pairs of socks. A few years ago, I recall a good friend having Microsoft Office, Photoshop, and QuarkXPress discs scattered casually in a kitchen drawer, without even the benefit of jewel cases or sleeves. If the software were of an equal value in jewelry, most likely far more care would be taken in storing it, keeping track of it and insuring it.

If you have Photoshop 9.0.2 ("CS2") installed and running, you should be able to register it online through its Help menu,
