Trying to hook up my Epson 2450 scanner to a new MacPro with Intel processor. I have installed the new driver from Epson and instructions say I must open Photoshop in Rosetta but in the Adobe Photoshop CS3 Info box, that box is greyed out so I can't check it. Any ideas??

Also, will I have reason to regret opening in Rosetta?

Just the inevitable, massive performance hit involved in running an application in emulation software. Natural, expected and unavoidable.

Thanks for the ideas. I solved this by shutting down and restarting which allowed me to open Photoshop in Rosetta. I hope to use it only to scan then close and reopen Photoshop (not in Rosetta) to work on images. Bit of a workaround, but don't need to buy a new scanner!

Pam, instead of all that opening and closing photoshop just to scan, you should really consider using the scanners stand alone application to scan.

As you have discovered Photoshop has no ability to scan by itself. It needs a plugin to access the scanner software. For me and many others it seems silly and a waste of resources to tie up a $1000 application to use it as a scanner UI.

Another benefit of using the scanner software as a stand alone is you can keep working in Photoshop while you are scanning.
