With no obvious change to the software or any other software, using Win7
Home Premium, 64 bit, PE v.8, I scan a document on an Epson Perfection
V500 Photo scanner and bring it up OK in Photoshop. At that point, going
to the Editor toolbar, **ALL** options are greyed out except those under
the "Windows" option. I can't even reach the help option, as it's also
greyed out. Can't exit either, except via the Task Manager, even though
TM says the program is "running", and it's obviously(?) not (completely)
frozen, or no options on the tool bar would be "clickable". I also
rebooted, no luck, removed and reinstalled, no luck.

Any ideas, or should I ask my absent grandson what the &%$#@@* he did to
the software, as he was the last to use it?

In partial answer to my question, after a preview scan, the Epson
preview screen minimizes, which I hadn't noticed. In the past it stayed
open and, after closing it, the scan window in PE was then useable.
Without closing it, status is as I originally noted. Still to check why
the Epson scan screen is automatically minimizing rather than staying
open until I close it. Will take a look at the Epson software.

Grandson returns this Sunday.
