- let me configure tool/menu/status bar
    - let me get rid of things I don't use
    - let me add things I do use (as buttons)
      e.g. print, switch catalogs
- let me turn of the ***** item on the thumbnails, I don't use *'s
- let me display captions on the thumbnails, I use them
- on properties/metadata, show the date/time the pic was taken
the current is confusing and often leads me to think the wrong date
- on export -- let me overlay the caption on the photo -- seems the
only way I can overlay the caption is creating a slide-show,
what if my friend is creating the slide-show and wants the captions?
- I like the dark screen (I make it darker even), but then some
things don't display well (e.g. try selecting caption text in
  properties)
Overall? I like 7 better than 5 -- thanks!
Because of an eyesight problem I find the overall background color of black with the colored buttons in PSE6 impossible to use. I guess this was an attempt to give PSE a high tech apperance. PSE7 attempted to correct this issue with a slide bar in preferences to change the background from black to a shade of gray which is still kind of dark. However this slide is only present in the editor and the background of the organizer and other features cannot be changed. I quit my trial of PSE7 and returned to PSE4. At least I can see and work with that background. Overall I prefer the background of PSE4 over PSE6 or 7.
You just have to adjust them both independently.
I agree, this will give more space for tags.
