Does anyone out there know how I would be able to accomplish streaming music or videos through my Atmoshpere world?
The streaming sound part is the most imaportant one. You see I'm trying to set up a virtual Night Club so that some of the local DJ's in New Mexico can also be streaming music "Live" into the virtual world at the same time. I could also use this to transmit my favorite radio stations. If any one can help, please let me know. I'm looking mainly for a Java script that can do this. Thanks

The current build will probably not support this without some serious hacks. However, the 1.0 release should be able to do this just fine.

If what you mean by version 1.0 is the builder, I'm using version 1.0 67. How can I do this then? I am going mad trying to get even just simple sound (in mp3 format) to play. I'm able to get sound to play if I open up the stand alone version of the player on my desk top(I think it's 97) which is on my local drive, but when I try to listen to the same world in one that I have embedded in an HTML page that is live on the web I can't get it to play any music and there are no error messages that come up either. I know I'm missing something simple but what is it? Please someone help me. Thanks.

No! you are using version 0.67.
Builder 1.0 is part of glorious future plans for world domination of desktop interfaces. So sorry you will have to wait -insert suitable time period here- before version 1 and hence streaming.

No, he's right, we are using version 1.0. Check the splash screen of the
builder, it says version 1.0 build 67. These are "partial" builds however,
builds on the way to the almost legendary "final" build. When people talk
about 1.0 they usually mean final, but actually all builds are 1.0. The
current build does not support streaming, it however will come some time in
the future in another partial build.

sure Rolu but really it is not version 1!
I worked for a software company where they would never label beta builds 1.067 but oh well if that is the wisdon of Adobe.

Okay then. Folks, does any one know of a way to play music to make it sound like streaming music. What I mean by that is, is there a way to get more than one mp3 to play in a row? This way it sounds as though you are listening to an album or a live station yet it is all prerecorded mp3 tracks.

You can make an Atmo JavaScript that uses 'If Loaded' sorts of loops to load and run things in order.

So, you should be able to start one sound file after another finishes, by testing for whether the lastest is still running.

Not expert enough to tell you the exact methods though.

Sounds like it would work but I'm not a java script person. If I need a code I just cut and paste. Does any one happen to have script that would do this. Also, I can't seam to get mp3 to play in my live world, but the mp3 play in the off line stand alone version. How do I fix this?

Hi Drol..
I have been experimenting with embedded streaming in a webpage. I have examples of this in my Town and Mars worlds. Currently, I use the Microsoft Media Encoder 7.0 which can stream up to 15 live streams while running Windows 98. If I run Windows NT4, I can use Windows Media Services along with the encoder or just stream Pseudo-live (pre-recorded material as simulated live content). Again though, this is experimental but does work so long as too many people are not in the worlds. I'm running this with a standard 56K modem connection. Take a look at the following pages then at the menu of your Internet Explorer select VIEW, then SOURCE to look at the code to see how I did it. Just substitute your favorite radio or tv internet station for my IP address and port number. (If I do live, inplace of the port number, I use a station name such as "livelink" for the live feed using the Media Server). BTW, Media Services runs only on Windows NT4 or Windows 2000 or higher. The encoder runs on Windows 98 or higher. Check Microsoft Website for details and all this is free. Here are the sites below:

<http://www.mybizz.net/~jodec1/worlds/mars/Mars.htm>

Hope this helps... this is all we can do at this time until the final release of Version 1.0 when this should be possible in the actual world rather than being embedded in a web page.

LOL - sorry, I'm a bit behind here. That just reminded me of a song:

I wait two weeks in the morning, I wait two weeks at night
I wait two weeks in afternoon, for a Builder that works right
I wait two weeks in time of peace, and two in time of war
I wait two weeks before I wait two weeks, and then I wait two more...

(you can do better)

Hahaha, that's got to be the Atmo theme song :-)
