Problem

With the updated version of Aditsite I notice that after a session of
entering when I check 'Today's entries' the default has changed from
group in code/species order to first entry at the bottom and latest
entry at the top. Is it possible to change this default to Group/Code
order? I rely on 'Today's entries' as a fail-safe against false

Problem (running Vista)

On starting the program after updating to the latest version, you get
the following error message:

"Unexpected Error - Quitting"

Solution

Right-click on the AditSite Icon (or menu item) and choose 'Run as
Administrator"

Hi Paul

Thanks, I now know what is happening and I have re-point the sites to
the new location of the maps (c:\aditmap\maps\amf files) and as you
say this removes the error message.

But I do have another genral question, when building the data set for
the palm it lists the maps listed, look like there are being picked up

Your data has just arrived.

The problem occurs when a site has stored a path to a map like

"c:\aditmap\maps\Huntingdonshi re.AMF"

but the actual map is now in

"c:\aditmap\maps\AMF Files\Huntingdonshire.AMF"

Because maps are opened in 'binary' mode (for speed) the program

for the maps) AditSite, AditTrec.

The following is a copy of the 'instructions'

AditSite Update

1. Insert the CD – it should start automatically. If not, browse the
CD and find the Update program (update.exe) and start it manually
(double-click).
2. Click [Install Program Update]

that you have been having.

I could trap the error messages, so that they cease to be a nuisance,
but I would
quite like to get to the bottom of why they are occurring. Can you
send
me a complete copy of your data on CD?

Build Date for Palm

After building the data set for Handheld Palm TX using the "Options", "Hand-Held/Satellite User", "Build Data for Palm". After choosing the "Items", "Recorders", "Sites", and "Maps" then "Build Dataset" I get the following error message :-
Unexpected Error In-Palm:ExportPalm, Error Number 11, Division By Zero

If you send me a copy of your data, I will investigate the problem.

Simplest thing is probably to put the whole of the AditSite folder
(usually c:\aditsite) onto a CD and
post to Adit Limited, Tyn Rardd, Dwyran, Anglesey, LL61 6AJ.

Alternatively, you could try zipping just aditsite.mdb and emailing it

Sounds like something strange about the content of the user defined
fields for that species list.
Are you using the latest version of the program (if so, I can add a
diagnostic to the code to find out what is happening)?
Or at least trap the errors so that they do not bother you.

From time to time you may want to update species names.
This typically occurs when there is a general acceptance of a new
name, discovery of a spelling mistake, or just because you do
not like the naming convention in a particular list (eg the standard
bird list).

I would like help to solve the problems described at length but in exact detail below:
Click ‘Recording’ then:
‘Birds’ & ‘Mayflies’ missing from ‘Item Groups’ Field. [but ‘Birds’ list at top right ok.]
No ‘Inputting’ screen.
1] ‘Unexpected Error In - InoutItemForm:BuildUserFields, Error Number 3464. Data type mismatch in criteria expression.
