Hello Joe,

Well, in general - as said before via mail - I like the Design Patterns Page. It is always an inspiration on how to design specific UI customer requirements.

One point that could be improved is some references on how to implement each particular UX pattern with ADF. Currently there is no technical hint / reference on how to build a given pattern with ADF. Which components should be used? Which layout components? and so on.

I guess that the Fusion UX Patterns Site would gain even more popularity if on every pattern there would be a
reference / + Live sample on the Oracle Cloud e.g. on how to implement that particular pattern in ADF.

Best Regards,

I'd second that request... if it was a fusion between what it is now, and the ADF Taglibrary reference, it would be much easier to use:

http://jdevadf.oracle.com/adf-richclient-demo/docs/enhanced-tagdoc.html

But yes, it all takes time and money ;-)

We use it quite a lot, It's a great tool. One thing I would add is for when you select a UI pattern is for the tool to give you the basic XML code for the structure.

If you could build this feature directly into the JDev tool, that would be even better. So I select a pattern, much the same way you select template formats, and it would give the basic XML structure, that would save a lot of time.

We want to know what ADF developers who have used the website think of its advantages or disadvantages. This is an independent evaluation so both positive and negative comments are welcome.

So if I interpret correctly, after picking a UX pattern, you would like
to see something (maybe a video or example) of how the various ADF Faces
components and layout components, would be assembled together to
implement that pattern?

I've been thinking about this as an idea for a while, if there is demand
for this we can certainly put something together....So, would this be a
valuable aid?

We ask developers to look into the design patterns, which they mostly do and use the patterns, but we also get feedback that they don't know how to proceed after reading the pattern. The patterns are easy to read, however e.g. 'Processing Message Pattern Set' talks about background processing but doesn't give a hint on how to accomplish this in ADF.
I think samples which can be inspected would be a great help for developers. Videos are great too, however if you are not exactly sure what you are looking for it's hard to find the right video. If you are studying a patterns this should not be a problem as you know the video is implementing the pattern. If you google for af:progressIndicator you don't get the design pattern page on the first result page.
Then a link to the design guidelines page of the used components would help too as it gives additional information.

Agree, that it would be nice to have references to live examples and to ADF Faces tag library as well. It will save a lot of time for UI developers, and, having that, the UX pattern web site could be a great resource for studying ADF Faces. Actually, many patterns are implemented in the  ADF Faces demo application http://t.co/oeafLO3lv0. But it's huge. It'd be cool to have a set of examples like ADF EMG Samples onhttp://java.net/projects/smuenchadf/pages/ADFSamples

One of the issues that developers have with using the User Experience Design Patterns is transforming the images of the design patterns and the guidelines on the website into a format that can be used in a developer’s prototype or representation of the user interface design to their application. I have been told that some create wireframes, others create Photoshop drawings. What other methods have been used to transform the images into a developing design?
