Had a request from a consultant (and also curious myself) - are there any Android apps out there in the wild yet built with ADF Mobile I could grab or take a look at? Seen info about iOS but anyone know of or done one for Play store?

I'm working on one (non commercial). It will take a while but it is in the works.
I'll keep you posted.

hi Ultan Ó Broin

- about "... Seen info about iOS ..."
-- Any pointers you can share?
-- If I combine that with what Grant Ronald wrote [1] "Just think, write once and deploy to iOS or Android.", it looks like it is only a matter of convincing those that already released their ADF Mobile app for iOS to also deploy and make it available for Android, not?

Yes Jan you are rigth. An ADF mobile application can run on both Android and iOS devices. The thing is however it looks like nobody has yet put an ADF mobile application in the Google Play Store.

Just to clarify, there is already an ADF Mobile based application on the itune store:
http://hudsoncentral.wordpress.com/2012/10/23/new-hudson-mobile-app-now-available-on-itunes/

We have an Android version of this internally, and we are still working out the legal process that Oracle employees need to follow to post this on the Android Google Play store. The reasons it is not out there are not technical but rather legal.

Shay,
Just to make this clear for all of us. This is only for Oracle employees rigth? Anybody else can just post ADF mobile apps to the Play Store.

Thanks for your reply Shay.

- about "The reasons it is not out there are not technical but rather legal."
-- Thanks for pointing that out. Are these "legal reasons" Oracle (employee) specific, or something others (non-Oracle) should also consider?

Just to clarify, Shay is talking about the process for Oracle to officially release an app on the Google Play appstore.  It has nothing to do with individual developers submitting to the various app stores.  This process takes time because of all the business/legal terms need to be reviewed/agreed upon between multiple groups within Oracle, and has nothing to do whatsoever with any technology or framework itself.

Of course, one thing to keep in mind that the AppStore’s policies are being maintained by the platform vendors, and it is still individual developer’s responsibility to adhere to these rules.

In the matter of various AppStores and their terms/quirks, the expert from our group is Susan Duncan who will be attending UKOUG as well –another reason to attend UKOUG…  J

Thanks,

Hi,

The legal issues are not Oracle specific. Every Enterprise should be checking any terms, agreements and licensing that it is obliged to accept and providing guidelines and process on how development and distribution of software is best achieved

In the case of Android app development and distribution on GooglePlay: a gmail account is required to upload apps - which entails agreeing to the Google terms and conditions in addition to the Android developer agreement

Worth a mention...
New ADF Mobile based application available on both the Google and iTune store:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.synergetic.EPMobile&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5zeW5lcmdldGljLkVQTW9iaWxlIl0.
Do a search on iTunes and you'll find it there too.

More about the application here:
