Subject: Baby #1

Some time ago I imported a graft from Mr. Ko labeled ‘Baby #1’.  This was
very slow growing.  It flowered last week for the first time, two years
after importing it.  I had suspected it was a cultivar of *A. boehmianum *owing
to its huge leaves and when it flowered - it was pure boehmianum, and not a
very good form either.  Perhaps it will improve as it gets older.

I am attaching a photo of my graft of ‘Baby #1’.  Also one of my better *A.
boehmianum *seedlings raised from wild collected seed imported from Köhres
Kakteen of Germany.

As we were recently on the subject of why to graft, I have included a photo
of this seedling together with a graft of it (the seedling).  You can see
how much more rapidly the graft has grown as against the original seedling.

‘Baby #1’ is possibly a parent of ‘Desert Star’ which is in turn a parent of
‘Beauty of Taiwan’ one of the most floriferous cultivars  I know.  Therefore
I suspect strongly that boehmianum is a grandparent of ‘Desert Star’ or dare
I say 25% *A. boehmianum *and 75% *A. obesum *white form.

Subject: question to David
Hello David,
since you might be experience with growing more hybrids of adenium
than others in this group, I would like to ask you:
which adenium has usually most seeds per pod?
I'm getting 9 to 37 good seeds per half-pod plus 1 or 2
underdeveloped, but have experience with only very few (3 hybrids)
