Dear ADDA users,

It took quite some time, but the new version of ADDA (1.1) has finally been released.

Below the most important changes in this release are summarized. For a more detailed list please see
http://code.google.com/p/a-dda/wiki/ReleaseNotes .

* New OpenCL-based version of ADDA to effectively use GPUs for simulations.
* Calculation of radiation forces was largely improved.
* Three new misc/ packages: 'hyperfun' (contributed by Josef Gasteiger), 'pip' (contributed by Roman Schuh and Thomas
Wriedt), and 'parse_log'. In particular, it greatly simplifies using many common 3D shape formats together with ADDA.
* New predefined shapes: 'chebyshev', 'plate', and 'prism'.
* New command line option to read incident beam from file '-beam read <filenameY> [<filenameX>]'.
* Several new DDA formulations and iterative solvers.
* ADDA executables for 64-bit Windows are now available.
* Windows executables of routines from 'misc/' are now available, both 32- and 64-bit.
* Added automatic tests of ADDA executables to '/tests/2exec'.
* Two new development branches - weighted discretization and sparse (non-FFT) DDA - for those who want to try the latest
improvements.

You are advised to upgrade to a new version, which can be downloaded (both main package and, if needed, executable for
32- and 64-bit Windows) from: http://code.google.com/p/a-dda/downloads/

I would like to use this opportunity to greet new members of the ADDA project:
- Marcus Huntemann is developing OpenCL version of ADDA, as well as certain optimizations for modern processors.
- Jussi Leinonen is developing sparse (non-FFT) version of ADDA for simulating light scattering by sparse aggregates.
- David de Kanter helps to maintain some wiki pages.

Finally, please note that ADDA is an open-source project which development relies on the community around it. There are
many ways to help:
* Using ADDA and advocating its use through publications and conference presentations.
* Active participation in the discussion group - http://groups.google.com/group/adda-discuss , in particular, sharing
your experience with other users.
* Commenting and improving wiki pages ( http://code.google.com/p/a-dda/w/list ) and other documentation.
* Locating bugs and proposing new features for ADDA, using the issue tracker - http://code.google.com/p/a-dda/issues .
* Contributing and improving the source code - http://code.google.com/p/a-dda/wiki/InstructionCommitters .

Best regards,
Maxim Yurkin.
