mimeType in Media Link

I don't know if this has been discussed, but: is there a reason that there's no "mimeType" member of Media Links?

The original discussion around this when I asked before was that
mediaType didn't seem to be minimally necessary. There are definite
contexts in which it's useful, to be sure, but typically, one can
determine the general media type of the linked resource by the
property context.
