  Martin, &lt;br&gt; &lt;p&gt;I was able to make it work by walking through the AM errors hash and &lt;br&gt; adding them to the AR errors hash using the add() method. It&#39;s not the &lt;br&gt; prettiest code, but it is working very well. I wanted to do it this &lt;br&gt; way because then I get a nice, single error display via the &lt;br&gt; ActiveRecord::Error class and I get the highlighted fields.

  You want to run the authorization so that you know the credit card is valid &lt;br&gt; when you are storing into into the vault. I would imagine that you may want &lt;br&gt; to authorize for more than $1, but I don&#39;t see a case where you wouldn&#39;t &lt;br&gt; want to authorize the card at all.

  If you want to make a change, I would recommend you add an option like the &lt;br&gt; TrustCommerce gateway to allow a person to not run an authorize to store the &lt;br&gt; card. This option should default to running the authorization, to make it &lt;br&gt; match the behavior of TrustCommerce and Payment Express.
