  I had the same issue with protx (now sagepay) and I ended up customizing active merchant to suit (I can put the code on github if you are interested). &lt;br&gt; I have used sagepay server on a php project and I seem to remember that the differences between the &#39;direct&#39; and &#39;form&#39; as far as the protocol goes were fairly small, but you will need to consider allowing the sagepay server to contact your server when the transaction is completed or cancelled. On a positive note though, you will not have to deal with 3d secure which is a pain in the a**.
