Hi,

I'm the Lead Developer (iPhone & Rails) for http://sevensnap.com. A
few months ago I looked at AM but then decided to use Mobile Checkout
(which is sadly not in AM, don't know why). Sadly also, Mobile
Checkout is not a solution for us since our business is based in
Germany. So I came back to AM :-) with Express Checkout. When I was
using Mobile Checkout (and basically did everything myself with the
NVP PayPal API since I couldn't found any gem or plugin doing it), I
could give a sandbox login & pwd to my Beta Users and they would use
it. Now AM asks to be logged on the sandbox (that is, on
developer.paypal.com, not on sandbox.paypal.com) and this is just not
doable, for different reason. Why can't we just test without being
logged on developer.paypal.com?

Also, do you guys plan to integrate Adaptive Payements? It's also not
usefull for us, since it's not available in Germany (just like
Payments Pro aren't), but I'm sure it's usefull for tons of people.
One other very interesting solution (but also not yet for Germany) is
the new Native iPhone Library (as a side note).

Being logged in to developer.paypal.com for PayPal Express and PayPal
Website Payments Standard sandbox transactions is a requirement of
PayPal's sandbox and not ActiveMerchant.

We haven't had a need for Adaptive Payments yet, but I'm sure someone
will integrate it.

Hey Cody,

I'm sorry to tell you, but with Mobile Checkout I was having my beta testers use the Sandbox without being logged to developer.paypal.com - so either it only works for Mobile Checkout either you guys are doing something wrong :-) I could show you the code (but not on the list) that I was calling and didn't require to be logged to developer.paypal.com

Cheers.

Oh and speaking of adaptive Payments there are at least 2 plugins / gems out there that deal with it so it would make sense have this being part of AM instead of having people using AM for Express Checkout (or else) and the other Gems/plugins for Adaptive Payment.

Cheers.

You should ask this question on the PayPal developer forums and get
back to us here with the answer.

I'm not sure adaptive payments really fits in ActiveMerchant, but I'd
have to take a closer look at it to say for sure.
