to ACL Anthology
Hello:

The slides for the presentation to the ACL Exec have been posted here:

.htm: http://aclweb.org/anthology-new/docs/reports/430-450_aclAnthology.ppt.htm
.ppt: http://aclweb.org/anthology-new/docs/reports/430-450_aclAnthology.ppt

Similar (but more abbreviated) presentations were made at the ACL Exec+
+ meeting and the ACL business meeting. I'd like to thank and
acknowledge Steven Bird for making the business meeting presentation
in my absence.

Below is the text of the slides (for better quick reference).

Cheers,

Min

In-Progress Projects
Expanding the Anthology
Wikifying the Anthology
DOI Assignation
Correcting Existing Materials
Grassroots Initiative
1. Expanding the Anthology
Content
Finite String - dual listing
IJCNLP 08, 05 - in progress
LREC - no reply from ELDA
Bonnie Webber to donate some missing unlisted COLINGs

Reach
ACM Portal - done
DBLP - in progress
ISI - not transparent
2. Wikifying the Anthology
Most labor-intensive agenda item for this year
Gives limited power to public to edit metadata

Exploring software options:
Ruby on Rails: scalable programmatic db sol’n but unsupported by
aclweb.org host
MediaWiki: most likely candidate given current ACLWiki, maintainable
or not?
Other CMS?
3. DOI Assignation
Bernie Rous (ACM contact) <ro...@hq.acm.org>

DOI acquisition from ACM assignments
Using DOIs in print
Not currently possible but can fix post-print
Bring any enriched material to ACM’s attention

NB: ACM does not assign DOIs to Computational Linguistics
ACL-ACM Agreement
ACM pays for the assignment, deposit, and management of ACL DOIs and
for the extraction and preparation of rich metadata, including
references and reference resolution.
In return the DOIs resolve to your articles in the ACM Digital Library
which contain linked references and citation counts. We also place a
separate URL on each article's Citation Page that points to your ACL
collection. But reference resolution by DOI comes to the article's
Citation Page inside the ACM DL.
4. Correcting Existing Materials
Metadata (XML/BibTeX)
ACM metadata integration
Retrofitting aclpub for older conferences

PDFs
Robert Dale’s linked PDFs
Retrofitting previous incorrect PDF metadata (wrong titles, etc.)
5. Relation to grassroots initiatives
ACL Anthology Network
Synchronization
ACL Anthology Reference Corpus
Resultant corpus derived from Anthology
ACL Video Archive
Looking at tie-ups

Conclusion
ACL Anthology is healthy
Push to accommodate Web 2.0 within this year
Attention towards integration with others
Within: ACL Information Services
External: ACM, others
Migration
Migrate existing scans from LDC to NUS - in progress
Microfiche scans (J79) - done much earlier but one PDF file damaged,
trying to
