I've agreed to appear on the panel described below on behalf of the CEC
(I think), but would like to welcome someone else who's apprised of our
activities and would like to represent the CEC. We need lots of
ambassadors, and this is a good experience builder!
My impression from an earlier email conversation with Jim Currin (very
recently past ACG board president) is that the CEC panelist will be
representing ACG as a whole regarding ACG's food security &
sustainability presence to the community. (This by default, because
no board or staff representatives planning to participate, which is
perhaps because they aren't as focused on this kind of community
relationship thing.) A full set of tabling lit would be
relevant.
Any takers? If more than one, you could help each other field
questions and provide multiple faces (maybe even languages) for folks to
connect with. If you feel you'd need some support to prepare, I and
I'm sure other experienced CEC members are available to help.

Subject: RSVP: 6/5 Concordia Food Security & Sustainability
Forum
Date: Wed, 16 May 2012 12:34:20 -0700
Organization: Manifest Men's Wellness Community
Dear Scott,
I'm the Secretary of the Concordia Neighborhood Association and have been
asked to help organize a neighborhood general meeting on Food Security
& Sustainability for World Environment Day. Would someone
from your organization be willing to be on a panel at the
NEIGHBORHOOD FORUM: HOW CAN WE END HUNGER IN CONCORDIA &
PIONEER FOOD SECURITY & SUSTAINABILITY?
Tuesday, 6/5/12, World Environment Day
7:00-9:00 pm
Kennedy School Community Room
This will be a great event for your organizations to:
* Get Press Coverage from the Oregonian & Concordia News (who are
expected to be covering this event)
* Recruit New Volunteers
* Recruit New Donors &/or Clients/Customers
* Network with other Food Security & Sustainability
Organizations
We're inviting representatives from lots of neighborhood food security
& sustainability groups, including: New Seasons, Alberta Coop,
OSALT, Urban Farm Collective, Growing Gardens, Portland Fruit Tree
Project (Killingsworth Community Food Forest & Sabin Community
Orchard), Genesis Community Fellowship Food Pantry, St. Vincent DePaul at
St. Andrews, Trinity Lutheran Church & Koinonia Community Garden,
Oregon Food Bank Eastside Garden, NE Tool Library & Seed Exchange,
Fresh Exchange @ King Farmer's Market,
I think neighbors will be interested in hearing about how your
organization is promoting neighborhood food sustainability & security
and how they can support or get involved in your efforts. We'll
have lots of speakers so you'll only have about 3-5 minutes, and they'll
be time for questions from neighbors, and space on part of a table to
distribute literature.
We'll also be doing an article in the 6/1 Concordia News reminding the
neighborhood about the 6/5 Food Sustainability & Security
Forum. Can you let us know by 5/18 if you have any events related
to food sustainability or security in June that youd like listed in
Concordia News, which is distributed to 11,000 homes & about 40
businesses in Concordia.
Thanks so much for letting me know if you or someone in your organization
can participate in the 6/5 Panel, and for sending me information about
any June events in or near the Concordianeighborhood related to food
security & sustainability. Lastly, please let me know the
names, phone numbers, & emails of, and invite to the forum, other
leaders or volunteers who are working on food security and sustainability
in Northeast Portland.
