Hi Jean
As I told Cleo I live in Denmark. 15 km from copenhagen. Yes I am sure you
also had a very HOT summer in Sweden, like we had in Denmark.
Furthermore I can tell that the area I know best in Sweden is around
Bohus, Allingsås, Älvängen and from there touring to Stenungesund,
Tjörn and Orust. Have also seen the pictures on the cliffs in Bohuslen.
And the maze in Gräbbestad - because of interest in archeologi.
My very best friend since we were 11 and 10 years old live in Nödinge near
Göteborg. She and her housband have a "summerhouse" 15 km
from Trollhättan.
Therefore I know all this area.Whereas one of my brothers and his wife
are every summer going to places far north. Driving theire car with a
canoe on the top.

i saw in the weather report yesterday that Copenhagen was expecting a
maximum of 5 degrees today (monday). i would call that bitterly cold.
i suppose you'd even get snow there in winter even though it's very
low and close to the sea?
-
Yes you are right - it has been bitterly cold the last days. and we also can
have snow in winter. We get some snow almost every winter, but because
we are a coastland, we never know wether the winter vill be long or short,
wether it will be mild or very hard.
With our climate it can be anything.

Thank you - I will look forward to that. But just take your time ofcourse.
My friends who live up there are both Danes. But have now lived in the area
more than 25 years.
They moved from Denmark because he could got a job at - ohhmm do you have an
English name for it - "Götaværket"? He worked with something tecnically.
As an interest or hobby he took the certificate to fly small planes for 4 or
6 persons, so we have been flying over the islands Tjörn and Orust plus all
the others smaller islands around them. I took archeologically pictures,
when we were circling over Tjörn.

Jean
Then you must like it VERY much.
I was just going to ask whether you have ever been on top of some cliffs
at Tjörn where there is a very fine - hm "röse" is it called in danish. It
is
a sort of grave from maybe 1000 years before christ. And this one is called
Kuballe Wette. (Or Wätte)
I have seen a place with quite a lot of röses maybe 50 km south og
Gothenborg. They were all disturbed and damaged. It just looked like big
heaps of stones. But the Kuballe Wette was precisely round and builded
vertical up to ca. 1,2 m. Then they had let the rest be a big round top.
Actually I found it fantastic that they could do that in raw stones and
without
any binding material. Some of it was destroyed but you could see how fine it
had been originally.
If you ever have seen it, I just wanted to ask of you think there are others
of the same type anywhere in Sweden.
Ruth
Maybe I can

You can make him interested by taking him round to for instance all
those exciting things one can see at Tjörn.
Then can go on the digs.
I hope you can make him interested.

Hi Shirley
Woke up this morning to snow about a foot of it. Its early for us this year
I remember the 80s we had in october but since then it usually comes in dec.
And its cold brrrrr. I lived on long Island for 4 years and remember the
snow we had there. It usually stays for a couple of months here in
Gothenburg ,
the north gets the most and stays much longer..
Have a nice day
Jean
There are so many things from prehistoric time to see at Tjörn. I found a
book here at the Library: "Around in Sweden with the archeologist"
It was a Swedish book. I had it with me when I went to Bohus on
summerholydays. And we found so many many interesting places to
visit through that book.
There
> are quite a few stenröse in Sweden many on Gotland.
Interesting to hear. I wonder who were the people who builded them at
Gotland.
>Dont know exactly where
> but could find out for you.
Thank you - it could be just sometime in the future. I don't think I
will go to Bohus untill June next year.
>Rain mixed with snow here today yuk.
I wonder when we will see a little bit of snow here. The last 3 evenings
they have been talking about in the weather rapports, saying there is risk
of snow tomorrow. It was raining heavily here yesterday, but right now the
sun is shining VERY brightly.
And the wind is very cold.
Hi Ruth
That question mekes me remember that you are livng in Australia.
May I answear your question with a little song:
Snow, snow wonderful delicate white
millions of downs so softly
dancing, playing, whirling, falling, sinking
over fields, forests and lakes
over all the roofs in town
over every little house
snow, snow wonderful snow.
Snow, snow wonderful delicate white
all the withered you softly hide
covering mildly what looks scaring
make for Christmas the world so fine.
Snow, snow wonderful snow.
Maybe it could be translated a little better, but ...
Happy sunday morning.
Ruth
I know what it is. It's that white stuff on mountaintops warning me to stay
away for a few months, down here where there are no jumper cables, snow
chains, starting fluid, snow tires, windshield scrapers, etc.
It's 78 F at noon, my doors and windows are open, I'm wearing a tank top and
cargo shorts, and no sandals unless I go to the store....
Wish you were here....
Yes, the fact is that colin still never has seen snow and never has touched
snow. What *can* we do about that?????????????
Let us try to find good ideas. :-)
What will you think about colin taking out som icecubes from her freezer.
Put them in the zink and beat them with a hammer until they are completely
crussed. Crussed like sugar - then immediately you/colin take it in your
hands, feel it, press it, touch it ............. and try to imagine somthing
almost
similar to this material coming in heavy numbers down from the sky. ;-) :-)
LOL :-)
That is the absolutely best idea I could think off.
Who's got a better idea.
Ruth

anybody ever made ice cream from snow?
I've heard of hot maple syrup drizzled over deep clean snow, but there's
never been snow when I've helped "make sugar" in Michigan.

It is a nice plan you have made. And you all ready have bought the land.
Is it at the border to Tennessee. when my friend was there in a little town
called Grey, where they had an adress at Shannon Wiev Road.
And by plane they first came to an airport called Three Cities.
I mention those names just in case you should know them.
And just coincidentally I came across a book of a Sharyn Mc Crumb
called "If ever I return Pretty Peggy-O" It was also called an
Appalacher-Thriller. Going on in Hamelin, Tennesseee.
Have you ever hear'd of it?

Thanks a lot - only if it is not too complicated. I guess it is in the
eastern part of Tennessee.
And it must ofcourse sound a little mad to mention a roads name. But one
reason was that it is a very long road - not a little street in the middle
of a little town. AND another reason is that I think itsounds so nice - this
Shannon Wiev ......... I don't know how it comes that I sometimes can be
fascinated by the name of a place. On one of my brothers american records I
once saw the name Shennandoa, that also sounds very nice to me.
I can't tell why. I don't even know if it's a name of a person or a place.
> If my health holds up I have plans for the best butterfly drawing flower

Eeeeeh - what a fascinating idea! - I have a big bush in my garden, and it
is drawing different butterflies to come here in summer. But I never thought
og trying to find other plants, that could draw other kinds ofbutterflies.
What a fine idea.

Hummingbirds - I guess that is what we call colibries, very small and always
looking for the honey in theflowers like bees. Is that the Hummingbirds?
They are not in Denmark - only in the Zoo.

It was like it more described aome place called The Smokey Mountains,
and that sometimes tha clouds were hanging ow over those mountains, in a way
that almost looked like smoke.
The story is not really going on in the mountains, but on the road up to the
mountain at the edge of the little town a big house is for sale and a girl
who over some years has been an entertainer buyes this house because she is
tired of her restless life.
So she is happy when she moves into this peaceful place. But after some
time strange things begin to happen,...........
I shall not say more in case you will be going to read it, only that it is
not just a little silly thriller, it also wants to say serious things about
life here and now in our time.

Colibries is the Spanish word for hummingbirds.

Yes it is nice to have different birds in the area, where you are living.
I hang out little nets full og nuts in the trees in my garden to make the
birds coming here. I like best the great tit and the blue titmouse. (This
makes me wonder if there is an error in the dictionary. How can a very
