How Long Do We Have?

About the time our original thirteen states adopted their new constitution
in 1787, Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of
Edinburgh, had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some
2,000 years earlier:

"A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a
permanent form of government.  A democracy will continue to exist up until
the time that voters discover they can vote themselves  generous gifts from
the public treasury.  From that moment on, the majority always vote for the
candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the
result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal
policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship."

"The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of
history, has been about 200 ye ars.  During those 200 years, those nations
always progressed through the following sequence:

1. From bondage to spiritual faith;
2. From spiritual faith to great courage;
3. From courage to liberty;
4. From liberty to abundance;
5. From abundance to complacency;
6. From complacency to apathy;
7. From apathy to dependence;
8. From dependence back into bondage"

Professor Joseph Olson of Hamline University School of Law, St. Paul,
Minnesota, points out some interesting facts concerning the 2000
Presidential election:

Population of counties won by: Gore: 127 million; Bush: 143 million

Square miles of land won by: Gore: 580,000; Bush: 2,427,000

States won by: Gore: 19; Bush: 29

Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by: Gore: 13.2; Bush: 2.1

Professor Olson adds:  "In aggregate, the map of the territory Bush won was
mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of this great count ry.
 Gore's territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in
government-owned tenements and living off various forms of government
welfare..."

Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the "complacency
and apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy, with some
forty percent of the nation's population already having reached the
"governmental dependency" phase.

If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal
invaders called illegals and they vote, then goodbye to the USA in fewer
than five years.

Pass this along to help everyone realize just how much is at stake, knowing
that apathy is the greatest danger to our freedom in our nation and in our
churches. *

Public-School Prisons

Why have we put our children into education prisons called public schools?
What crimes have they committed? Why do we condemn almost 45 million
innocent children to this punishment? Do I exaggerate by calling these
schools "prisons?" Well, let's compare prisons and public schools.

What are prisons? They are places were people are locked up against their
will for crimes they have committed.

What is life like for a prisoner? The warden and prison guards, in effect,
take away the prisoner's life and freedom. They force a prisoner to live in
a small cell he doesn't want to live in, eat food he may hate, work at a job
he detests, associate with other prisoners who may be dangerous, and remove
him from everyone and everything he loved in the outside world when he was
free.

Like prisons, public schools impose their will by force, by compulsion.
Local governments force parents to send their children to public schools
just as the police drag convicted criminals into prison (even though many
parents are not aware of this and voluntarily send their kids to these
schools). A parent can be convicted of alleged child abuse and sent to
prison if she disobeys the school authority's order to send her child to the
local public school.

Local governments then force parents to pay school taxes for these education
prisons. If they don't pay these taxes, their local government will
foreclose on their home and throw them out on the street.

School authorities force children to stay in school until they are 16 years
old or graduate high school (these age limits vary by state). In effect,
most children get a 10-year education prison sentence if they start school
at age six.

School authorities force millions of children to sit in boxes called
classrooms with 20 other children-inmates for six to eight hours a day, five
days a week, for up to ten years. The children must obey the adult education
wardens (teachers and principals), who they may fear or dislike. They must
study subjects they may hate or that bore them to death. They must associate
only with other children their same age who may be bullies, violent, or
emotionally disturbed. They must do homework and study for tests they must
pass or be left back in school.

The children are removed from their loving parents and put under the control
of teacher-wardens who may not love them, care for them, or simply even have
the time to pay attention to them. They are stopped from being a
free-spirited child. They are told to keep quiet. They are told to obey the
rules. They are told to march from classroom cell to classroom cell every 50
minutes to study different subject that may mean nothing to them.

Parents, if you don't think this is harsh punishment for your innocent
child, ask yourself this. When your spouse pressures you to attend some
event you hate, whether a ballet, lecture, or football game, how do you
feel? After sitting at that event for only an hour, how do you feel? You are
probably angry, irritated, and frustrated. You squirm in your seat or doze
off. You can't wait to get out of there. You can't wait to get back to your
life and doing the things you love to do.

Well, millions of kids, and probably your child, must sit through this agony
of boredom or frustration for 6 to 8 hours a day for 10 years in
public-school classrooms. Yet, to repeat, what crimes have your children
committed to warrant this horrible punishment?

In fact, they have committed no crime whatsoever. They are simply innocent
victims of local governments and public-school authorities who think they
own your children, who think they have the right to put your children into
education prisons for 10 years for "their own good."

Parents, if a rogue cop came and took your child to prison for no reason
whatsoever, except for saying it would be for your child's "own good," would
you not fight to the death to stop him? So why do you let school authorities
take your innocent children and punish them for ten years?

Parents, if you thought you had no choice, you are wrong. Happily, you can
homeschool your child or give your child a fun, quality, rewarding, low-cost
education with Internet private schools. You have many education options. If
your child hates school, listen to him or her. Don't let school authorities
put your child in a public-school prison for ten years. You have a choice,
and your child's life is at stake.

*Dismantling Compulsory Schooling*

Despite a century of reform movements, American schools do not work.

While superintendents scratch their heads and politicians proclaim the
brilliance of minor tweaks, it's time to call into question the very
foundation of our system. *The deepest crisis in K-12 schools is not reading
skills, or violence, or teacher pay: it's an absence of meaning*. The only
solution is to disband compulsory schooling altogether. To save education,
we must make school optional.

It may seem absurd to suggest that reducing schooling will improve
education. But, as educational theorist John Taylor Gatto point out in his
book, *A Different Kind of Teacher: Solving the Crisis of American Schooling
*, "education" and "schooling" are not synonyms. Education is natural;
schooling is artificial.

Children are born with an insatiable desire to explore and to improve
themselves. They poke and prod the world, asking questions and following
their interests. Schools co-opt that passion and turn it into boredom by
forcing performance.

Students, and not teachers, are the biggest problem in contemporary schools.
By the time they enter middle school, the majority are bored and turned off
by the subject matter. This isn't, as many of us presume, because teenagers
are inherently lazy jerks, but because their schooling has taught them that
the subject matter is meaningless. This is pointed out by Alfie Kohn
in *Punished
By Rewards: The Trouble with Gold Stars, Incentive Plans, A's, Praise, and
Other Bribes*.

In school, the primary importance of studying English, History, and Math is
to pass tests and receive high grades. Children are locked into a system of
learning abstract information for which they have no interest on the promise
that, someday, they'll be able to land a good job. Students are removed from
the real world, where they might develop the interests that a school
education could satisfy. A sense of meaning comes from living life; from
making choices, taking risks, helping others and shouldering responsibility
in a community.

John Mayer's song is precisely wrong–there is such a thing as the real
world, and it's more wonderful than school. Schools deny the ordinary living
of life to students by taking up half their waking hours (plus homework) and
segregating them from people and activities which could be of real
educational value. It's no wonder our teen suicide rate is so high. Children
are not taught to value life and meaning, but are forced to work toward
fairly meaningless goals.

*Schools teach *that the true path of learning is not to live your life, to
pursue your goals, and to help other people, but to sit in your desk, to not
argue with the teacher, to *obey all authority no matter how idiotic*, and
to *please *spit out your gum.

Schooling is artificial, but that doesn't make it useless. Voluntary
schooling generally works–we know of good colleges and vocational schools,
piano lessons and martial arts academies. Because students choose to attend,
the schools can hold up high standards. More importantly, students perform
well because they know it's in their best interest.

*Mandatory schooling may work well for some *(likely, many of those who read
the *State Press*), *but it succeeds only at the ruin of many others–all the
graduating high school seniors who pledge, "I'll never read another book
again."*

So let's fundamentally rethink schooling's place in our society. Let's
refashion the whole system with the conviction that even the stupidest child
has a role to play in his own education, and allow students to choose what
they want to learn and when they want to learn it. Let's let them choose to
not attend school, but to participate in volunteer work, or a career.
They'll learn outside of school, and when they attend, they can learn what
they want, and learn it well. Schools currently double as daycares. Let's
free them to be what they aspire to–centers of education.

Wal-Mart joins 'gay' chamber of commerce

Company says it's just another routine business outreach

Wal-Mart has confirmed to WorldNetDaily that it has joined a "gay" chamber
of commerce, but describes it as just another routine business outreach and
says other major corporations are doing the same types of things.

However, conservatives and Christians see it differently, and Tony Perkins
of the Family Research Council in Washington, D.C., already has launched a
citizens protest of the move.

"It is correct that we have a dialogue with the (National Gay and Lesbian
Chamber of Commerce)," Wal-Mart spokesman Bob McAdam told WND. "This is just
what businesses do."

He said it is an effort by the company to reach out to one of its customer
bases, and is being handled similarly to Wal-Mart's work with Hispanic and
African-American chambers of commerce.

A report on an advertising industry site, AdAge, said that Wal-Mart had not
only joined the NGLCC but also has hired a "gay-marketing" shop and started
discussions about extending domestic-partner benefits to employees.

McAdam told WND it was just another advertising agreement, but not more than
that.

In the AdAge report, Justin Nelson of the NGLCC said the company was just
being "pragmatic."

"They have been viewed with some degree of skepticism by the lesbian, gay,
bisexual and transgendered community, and it's important for them in terms
of gaining market share to change that," he told AdAge.

Perkins told supporters that the "heat" from the "radical left" apparently
is influencing the company's corporate decisions, and he wants constituents
to let Wal-Mart know of their displeasure.

"While the NGLCC professes to promote the 'interests of the LGBT business
community,' this is not all they have done," Perkins said. "Recently, they
described efforts to defend traditional marriage as an attempt to 'write
discrimination into the Constitution …' The NGLCC also advocated attaching a
pro-homosexual 'hate crimes' amendment to legislation intended to protect
children from violent sex offenders."

"It is unfortunate," Perkins said, "that Wal-Mart has joined forces with an
organization whose mission opposes many of the values shared by rural and
small-town America. It is precisely the interests of average Americans that
Wal-Mart has prided itself in promoting.

"Now, by surrendering to the radical homosexual lobby, Wal-Mart has entered
the political arena with no economic benefit to their company or their
customers," he said.

He said it never is too late for conservatives and Christians to express
their disappointment to Wal-Mart.

The AdAge report said the moves come as Wal-Mart continues to try to attract
both upscale and urban markets. The report also said in 2003, Wal-Mart added
sexual orientation to its workplace nondiscrimination policies.

The AdAge report said Wal-Mart had hired Witeck-Combs Communications, which
is known for its campaigns targeting "gay" consumers.

As part of Wal-Mart's participation in the chamber, the report said, Dee
Breazeale, vice president of divisional merchandising for Sam's Club
Jewelry, is joining the group's Corporate Advisory Council and Wal-Mart will
sponsor two of the group's annual conferences.

Muslim immigrants' higher birthrates will replace traditionally

Christian Europe with an Islamic majority within this century. The

birthrate of native Europeans has fallen sharply since the 1960s. The

usual measure is total fertility rate (TFR), the number of children an

average woman will bear in her lifetime. A TFR of 2.1 is required to

replenish a population; the current average level in the 25-nation

European Union is just under 1.5, and as low as 1.2 in Italy, the Czech

Republic and Latvia. The TFR is 1.77 in Britain, 1.98 in Ireland, 1.89

in France.

In France, Third World immigrants constitute more than 10 percent of the

population, compared with five percent in Britain. The best estimates

suggest there are now more than five million Muslims and two million

blacks in France, and their birthrates are more than twice as high as

that of French whites. So while the Third World residents of France

account for one-eighth of the total population, they account for almost

a quarter of those under the age of 25. They also account for more than

half of the prison population, and close to half of the unemployed.

France's future therefore depends on a sullen and ill-educated

underclass of future colored workers and consumers whose taxes are

supposed to finance the welfare state and the pensions of French whites,

who at age 60 retire after a lifetime of leisurely 35-hour work-weeks.

For married couples to have large families is not a "luxury" in a nation

that cares a farthing for its heritage, culture or destiny. But Saddam

Hussein's Iraq offered far more generous maternity leave than wealthy

capitalist America. For that matter, so did the former Soviet Union. The

Church no longer preaches against birth control (how can it?---most of

its preachers have small families!) and who wants to be a white father

today, the butt of every joke, the target of feminist wrath, a man with

tremendous financial responsibilities, little respect and less

authority?

Don't mistake me, I am no longer an evangelist of the white birthrate,

not after the white race reelected that baby-killing cretin, the

abortionist by air force bombs, George W. Bush, in 2004 (with assistance

from rigged voting machines in Ohio). As a Poe fan I can live with a

gothic House of Usher world where dwindling whites comprise a kind of de

facto Brahmin caste.

But in terms of what our people accomplished in the past, before Judaism

and dollar-worship captured their souls -- the music of Bellini, Poulenc

and Liszt, the art of Carvaggio and Thomas Hart Benton, the poetry of

Catallus and Marlowe, the political science of John Lilburne, Algernon

Sydney, Thom Jefferson, Patrick Henry and George Mason; the devotion of

Francis of Assisi and John of the Cross; the philosophy of Charles Fort

and L.F Céline, the scholarship of Johann Andreas Eisenmenger and Edward

Gibbon, the exploits of Hernando Cortez and Richard Francis Burton, the

discoveries, the exploration...these I most certainly do not wish to see

diminished or extinguished. Still, we will get what our modern greed,

selfishness and myopia merit.

Perhaps a new race will emerge, a part white-Muslim or Socialist

commonweal where honesty, modesty and culture are honored for their own

sake, apart from the pursuit of the profit motive. As I tried to show in

my book on white enslavement, since the Industrial Revolution, the Money

Power has disdained large white proletarian families.

Thomas Malthus was  a spokesmen for a whole slew of predatory

capitalists who feared the "surplus" white population of England. Only

relatively recently, as a decided afterthought, has the utility of white

proles as cannon fodder in Israel's wars and "clashes of civilizations"

occurred to one faction of the Money Power. *For decades in Europe and*

*since 1965 in America, many Judaics were doctrinaire Third World*

*immigration advocates while espousing sterility for whites (cf. Erlich's*

*ZPG).*

*This erstwhile campaign was a means for gaining leverage against the*

*possibility of a renascent white race which, at that time, before the*

*rise of Judeo-Churchianity's obedience-to-rulers culture, they viewed as*

*still capable of mounting a neo-Nazi revolution. *Recall that Einstein

had been a doctrinaire pacifist until he perceived that his own Judaic

tribe was threatened, after which he willingly grandfathered the atomic

bomb.

*Like Einstein, once the Judaic Leftists they saw their Israeli tribe*

*threatened by the challenge of their run-amok Muslim Frankenstein,* they*

*switched to the Right and began their present scramble to revive the*

*white race for use as tax-payers, voters and foot-soldiers in the*

*Amalekite wars and ethnic cleansings of the future.*

* The chronicle of Judaic manipulation of Islam in the rabbinic war on

Christendom, beginning with Maimonides, has not been studied in any

depth. Patrick J. Buchanan, the bizarre Island of Dr. Moreau, hybrid

Neo-Conesque-Catholic-Paleo-Conservative-2004-Bush-Voter (!), in his

current crusade against non-white immigration, replete with half-truths,

cannot bring himself to mention the historic record of Judaic

manipulation of, and collusion with, Muslims in their wars against

Europe. Such are the intellectual contortions and sins of omission in

which politicians must engage, and the reason why the Crypocracy permits

them to gain a following.

*ADL'S FOXMAN: NEW TESTAMENT IS ANTI-SEMITIC*

Abraham H. Foxman, national director of the Anti-Defamation League of B'nai
B'rith, believes anti-Semitism will last as long as Christians accept the
New Testament's "lie" that the ancient Pharisees were responsible for the
death of Christ. 1

In his recent book, *Never Again? The Threat of the New
Anti-Semitism*, 2Foxman claims this "deadly"
3 deception has caused untold Jewish suffering through the millennia. Such
New Testament-generated hate culminated in the Holocaust, he claims - but it
breaks out afresh as the "Christ-killers" charge is inferred in Mel Gibson's
*Passion of the Christ* and readings from the "anti-Semitic" Christian story
at Easter.

Foxman says another wave of global anti-Semitism and persecution of Jews
could be on the way unless Christians agree to ignore large sections of the
New Testament.

What sections will probably be on his "must censor" list? Certainly, it
would include Christ's incendiary attacks on the Pharisees, whom He called
"whitewashed tombs, full of dead men's bones." 4 Foxman would also censor
the Apostle John: "He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the
Son does not have the life... Who is the liar but the one who denies that
Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one who denies the Father
and the Son." 5 In the book of Revelation, recorded by John, Jesus says
those Jews who reject Him are "the synagogue of Satan," 6 another passage
Foxman would certainly cut out.

But most importantly, Foxman would censor the multitude of passages in all
the Gospels that reveal a pharisaic conspiracy to entrap and finally murder
Christ. 7 The book of Acts squarely lays blame for the crucifixion upon the
Pharisees and the nation of the Jews. 8 To please Foxman, St. Paul's clear
indictment must also be omitted: "The Jews...killed the Lord Jesus and the
prophets and drove us out. They are not pleasing to God but hostile to all
men." 9

Foxman claims Jews were not responsible for the crucifixion and that Roman
officials masterminded Jesus' death. But only one "Roman official" is
mentioned in the New Testament as authorizing the crucifixion; Pontius
Pilate was a weak-willed political opportunist, reluctant to condemn Christ.
He was coerced by an entire Jewish Sanhedrin and a mob of Jewish citizens
who screamed, "Crucify him! His blood be upon us and on our children." 10

*Foxman's Case Against the New Testament *

Foxman summarizes his case against the New Testament:

"Over the last century a growing preponderance of evidence and scholarly
study has demonstrated that the execution of Jesus was instigated primarily
by the Roman authorities who ruled Palestine in the first century C.E., not
by the Jewish people. And the anti-Jewish rhetoric that mars several books
of the Christian New Testament has been shown to reflect not historical fact
but the rivalry at the time the books were written between Jews who followed
Jesus and those who did not.

"Nonetheless, versions of the Gospel narratives that emphasize Jewish guilt
(rather than the responsibility of the Roman imperial authorities who
actually imposed and carried out the death sentence) were included in the
Christian canon. As a result, with every annual reading or reenactment of
the story of the death of Jesus in Christian churches, millions of
Christians imbibed the notion that the Jews had been guilty of the worst
crime in history. Into our own time, the deicide libel has been used to
justify hatred of Jews and violence against them, including from Christian
pulpits.

Through the centuries these denunciations have led to countless outbreaks of
violence against Jews, including murderous pogroms, a bitterly ironic
betrayal of the legacy of the man Christians revere as the Prince of Peace.

"For almost two thousand years Christian teachings drove the spread of
anti-Semitism throughout Europe and beyond. (As we'll see, the current
explosion of anti-Semitism in the Moslem Middle East is fueled largely by
myths and doctrines that originated in Europe.) The story of Christian
anti-Semitism is a long, complicated and tragic one. Scholars such as the
late Dr. James Parks have traced a direct line from ancient Christian
teachings on Jews and Judaism to the death camps of Hitler." 11

*Christians Still Guilty *

According to Foxman, Christians in modern times are also very largely
responsible for the Holocaust.

"...*many Germans and Austrians who spent the week murdering Jews then went
to church on Sunday, apparently seeing no inconsistency *in their actions
and it's also true that the political and social atmosphere in which the
persecution and *killing of millions of Jews could be seen as broadly
acceptable could not have existed without the tacit acceptance of the
Christian churches *- as well as the ingrained anti-Semitism of twenty
centuries of dogma, doctrine and preaching that demonized Jews...*because
Christians and the Christian churches had spread hatred of Jews for so long,
it's impossible for Christians - and in particular the Catholic Church - to
regard themselves as passive or innocent bystanders during the Holocaust.
The killings could not have happened without the sins of millions Christians
- sins of commission as well as sins of omission*." 12

*Modern Christianity, Foxman asserts, is thus based on hateful, vengeful
lies spread by the New Testament. He says the evangelism practiced by devout
Christians is also anti-Semitic. "Although it is supposedly motivated by
love for the Jews, this idea [that Jews should be converted] is inherently
anti-Semitic in that it implicitly denigrates the value of Jewish belief." *

*Threat of Religious Right *

*But Foxman's allegations go farther still. He says we should fear
Christians because they want to take over America! They are "part of a
broader strategy to transform American government into a wholly owned
subsidiary of the evangelical movement... They seek the power to impose that
faith on everyone in America, replacing pluralism and tolerance with
theocracy*." 14 Ironically, Foxman thus becomes one of the "conspiracy
theorists" he usually rails against.

Foxman's ADL exerts enormous influence over at least half million Jewish
members of B'nai B'rith worldwide. His dark warnings about the Christian
threat helps explain the eagerness of many Jews to oppose Christian symbols,
ceremonies, holidays, and values.

Foxman is trying to instill a guilt complex in Christians and a desire in
the Jewish people to resist, restrict, and ultimately persecute Christians;
15 ADL/B'nai B'rith hate laws were created for this purpose.

*To stimulate Jewish anger at Christians, evil Jewish leaders are creating a
truly Big Lie: that the New Testament is inherently evil, anti-Semitic and
violence-generating - a book which, like Mein Kampf, should not be read.*

*How Should Christians Respond to Foxman? *

Bible-believing Christians remain extremely reluctant to identify evil
Jewish leaders for what they are (Jewish). Such truthtelling, however, would
be very constructive. It would embarrass the Jewish community into
restraining their brethren in Jewish "civil liberties" groups and the media.

Tragically, lack of specificity from evangelicals only gives a green light
to evil Jewish leadership, hidden behind a media they control. Eventually,
they will convince not only the Jewish people but the world that
Christianity is the most hateful and hurtful of the world's religions. A
generation from now, our media-reared children may regard Christianity as
deserving outright persecution.

The power of Foxman's blame-throwing against Christians inheres in his
presumption that all who have ever called themselves Christians are indeed
Christians. This allows him to lump together in "collective guilt" those
who, throughout history, were Christian in name only with those who do in
fact epitomize the words of the gentle Jesus. Christ commanded us to love
our neighbors and bless our enemies.

Anyone who behaves in a malicious persecutive manner toward Jews, especially
to the extent of the medieval barbarities and pogroms, is not a Christian. A
true Christian is simply not responsible for the misdeeds of counterfeit
Christians, nor is the New Testament.

*Nowhere does the New Testament remotely hint that Christians should
persecute Jews, nor does it provide even one example of such persecution. On
the contrary, the book of Acts contains at least 20 instances of Christians
being persecuted at the urging of Jewish leaders. *16 This is the kind of
persecution that ADL's national executive board member, Philadelphia
district attorney Lynne Abraham, brought down upon 11 Christians in
Philadelphia in 2004. *They were jailed and threatened with 47 years in
prison and $80,000 fines each, for the "hate crime" of witnessing to
homosexuals on a public sidewalk. *

*Should Christians Change the New Testament? *

Can Christians accommodate Foxman and disregard the New Testament? Not
without destroying Christianity - the New Testament defines Christianity.

No Christian can omit or de-emphasize any part of the New Testament. To do
so is to be ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, an act for which Christ will be
ashamed of that person on the Day of Judgment. 17

*After 300 years of blessing **18** from Christian America, a nation
established on New Testament values, it is time for Foxman to face reality.
Jews, far from being harried victims, have been the coddled darlings of
evangelical New Testament-believing Christians since at least the 17th
century. *

Foxman and Jewish leaders should stop raking up the past and count their
present blessings - blessings which would never have come upon them except
within a civilization upholding Christ's New Testament message of love and
forbearance.

The church must stand resolute against Foxman's demands that it deny the New
Testament.

It is Foxman's persecution complex which must end.

1 Most Christians already accommodate Foxman by saying we "all" have
crucified Christ by sinning. This doctrine was virtually unheard of before
the 1970s when Billy Graham first promoted it; it is neither Biblical nor
logical. The Bible does teach that all have sinned and fall short of the
glory of God (Rom. 3:23). It also states those who have once believed and
yet apostasized "again crucify…the Son of God" (Heb. 6:6). Yet Scripture
does not teach that through some metaphysical alchemy we all participated in
the crucifixion. The crucifixion was a unique historical event nearly 2000
years ago when Christ was rejected by His own, the Jewish people. Though
Pilate was badgered into authorizing it and a handful of Roman soldiers
drove the nails, the force behind the crucifixion was entirely Jewish. The
New Testament assertion of the Jewishness of the crucifixion is central to
the historic prophecies and claims which ground the Scripture. Without such
a reference point there is little significance in Christ's return someday to
rescue and absolve a repentant Jewish remnant from the stigma of so heinous
a national sin. This may explain why the New Testament repeats its charge of
Jewish guilt in about forty different passages.

Stalin and the Ukranian Massacre

Five years ago, I wrote a column about the unknown Holocaust in Ukraine. I
was shocked to receive a flood of mail from young Americans and Canadians of
Ukrainian descent telling me that until they read my article, they knew
nothing of the 1932–33 genocide in which Stalin's regime murdered 7 million
Ukrainians and sent 2 million to concentration camps.

How, I wondered, could such historical amnesia afflict so many young
North-American Ukrainians? For Jews and Armenians, the genocides their
people suffered are vivid, living memories that influence their daily lives.
Yet today, on the 70th anniversary of the destruction of a quarter of
Ukraine's population, this titanic crime has almost vanished into history's
black hole.

So has the extermination of the Don Cossacks by the Soviets in the 1920's,
and Volga Germans, in 1941; and mass executions and deportations to
concentration camps of Lithuanians, Latvians, Estonians, and Poles. At the
end of World War II, Stalin's gulag held 5.5 million prisoners, 23%
Ukrainians and 6% Baltic peoples.

Almost unknown is the genocide of 2 million of the USSR's Muslim peoples:
Chechen, Ingush, Crimean Tatars, Tajiks, Bashkir, Kazaks. The Chechen
independence fighters today branded "terrorists" by the US and Russia are
the grandchildren of survivors of Soviet concentration camps.

Add to this list of forgotten atrocities the murder in Eastern Europe from
1945–47 of at least 2 million ethnic Germans, mostly women and children, and
the violent expulsion of 15 million more Germans, during which 2 million
German girls and women were raped.

Among these monstrous crimes, Ukraine stands out as the worst in terms of
numbers. Stalin declared war on his own people. In 1932 he sent Commissars
V. Molotov and Lazar Kaganovitch, and NKVD secret police chief G. Yagoda to
crush the resistance of Ukrainian farmers to forced collectivization

Ukraine was sealed off. All food supplies and livestock were confiscated.
NKVD death squads executed "anti-party elements." Furious that insufficient
Ukrainians were being shot, Kaganovitch "the Soviet Adolf Eichmann" set a
quota of 10,000 executions a week. Eighty percent of Ukrainian intellectuals
were shot.

During the bitter winter of 1932–33, 25,000 Ukrainians per day were being
shot or dying of starvation and cold. Cannibalism became common. Ukraine,
writes historian Robert Conquest, looked like a giant version of the future
Bergan-Belsen death camp.

The mass murder of 7 million Ukrainians, 3 million of them children, and
deportation to the gulag of 2 million (where most died) was hidden by Soviet
propaganda. Pro-communist westerners, like the New York Times' Walter
Duranty, Sidney and Beatrice Webb, and French Prime Minister Edouard
Herriot, toured Ukraine, denied reports of genocide, and applauded what they
called Soviet "agrarian reform." Those who spoke out against the genocide
were branded "fascist agents."

The US, British, and Canadian governments, however, were well aware of the
genocide, but closed their eyes, even blocking aid groups from going to
Ukraine. The only European leaders to raise a cry over Soviet industrialized
murder were, ironically, Hitler and Mussolini. Because Kaganovitch, Yagoda
and many senior communist party and NKVD officials were Jewish, Hitler's
absurd claim that communism was a Jewish plot to destroy Christian
civilization became widely believed across fearful Europe.

When war came, Roosevelt and Churchill allied themselves closely to Stalin,
though they were well aware his regime had murdered at least 30 million
people long before Hitler's extermination of Jews and gypsies began. Yet in
the strange moral calculus of mass murder, only Germans were guilty.

Though Stalin murdered 3 times more people than Hitler, to the doting
Roosevelt he remained "Uncle Joe." At Yalta, Stalin even boasted to
Churchill he had killed over 10 million peasants. The British-US alliance
with Stalin made them his partners in crime. Roosevelt and Churchill helped
preserve history's most murderous regime, to which they handed over half of
Europe.

After the war, the Left tried to cover up Soviet genocide. Jean-Paul Sartre
denied the gulag even existed. For the Allies, Nazism was the only evil;
they could not admit being allied to mass murders. For the Soviets,
promoting the Jewish Holocaust perpetuated anti-fascism and masked their own
crimes.

The Jewish people saw their Holocaust as a unique event. It was Israel's
raison d'être. Raising other genocides would, they feared, diminish their
own.

While academia, media and Hollywood rightly keep attention on the Jewish
Holocaust, they ignore Ukraine. We still hunt Nazi killers but not communist
killers. There are few photos of the Ukraine genocide or Stalin's gulag, and
fewer living survivors. Dead men tell no tales.

Russia never prosecuted any of its mass murderers, as Germany did.

We know all about crimes of Nazis Adolf Eichmann and Heinrich Himmler; about
Babi Yar and Auschwitz.

But who remembers Soviet mass murderers Dzerzhinsky, Kaganovitch, Yagoda,
Yezhov, and Beria? Were it not for Alexander Solzhenitsyn, we might never
know of Soviet death camps like Magadan, Kolyma, and Vorkuta. Movie after
movie appears about Nazi evil, while the evil of the Soviet era vanishes
from view or dissolves into nostalgia.

The souls of Stalin's millions of victims still cry out for justice.
