We rode it! A friend of mine, Gunnar, and I started out in freezing fog. It was Gunnar's first 200 and I strongly advised him not to rush, it can get back to you very badly in the last third of the ride.
It was supposed to be a sunny day with
temperature between 5 in the morning and 12 in the afternoon.....it was always below freezing with ice in the water bottles.
Anyway, Gunnar and I were up to the
challenge and did it, discussing sometimes whether we should take a
shortcut. Well, we didn't and in the end we were proud.
We had to take two extended breaks to warm up the feet, also, Gunnar had
a flat tire around km60.I paced us at an average speed just under 28 km/h, we
were moving just a bit more than 7 hours of the 9 hours.
Elevation gain / loss: 830 m
steepest grade: 7%
average temperature: -2.5 C (between - 4 and -1C) with freezing fog
