Will skies be clear enough to see this event?

On Dec 13, if the night is clear, the Geminid Meteor Showers will begin after dark in the north east skies. After 8 pm appears to be best but this is billed as an outstanding shower. Unlike other showers this is a bit decentralized so trails might occur differently to other showers. The Geminid is a different shower from all others. It may be the remainder of trailings from a different type of body than other showers and it has become unique in many ways. I recommend searching the web for accurate description.  This might be a good, if cold viewing opportunity.

Feeder Watchers December 19:
If you live in the count area (a 7.5 mile radius from the Old Junior High School on School Street, if not sure please ask me) we are interested in having you count the birds at your feeder species and number of each. Call in your tally to Dave Small @978-249-2094 and leave a message. We will cross check your sightings with our field teams to not double count your birds. If you have anything unusual coming to your feeder between now and the count please contact me so we can be watching for it on count day.

Section leaders: if you have not contacted me yet about your area please do so. I have several new participants and need to organize the teams.

The Tally will be held as usual at the Environmental Center at 4:30. As usual this will include a potluck dinner. If you have something that needs to be heated up or you will need to drop it off earlier please let me know.

The Tally is open to everyone even if you aren't available to count for the day. So please join us for a fun evening.
