1. APA Film Festival - Ongoing!
Come join AASU for our annual Asian Pacific American Film Festival!
Throughout the film industry, there has been a widespread lack of representation of Asian Americans. The few movies that include Asian-American actors often show misleading and stereotypical representations of Asian-Americans. Thus, the APA’s Film Festival will show movies that fairly and accurately portray the lives, cultures, and communities of Asian-Pacific Americans. This year’s film festival includes three movies; “Children of Invention”, “The Namesake”, and “Crossing”, all of which show the struggles of the everyday lives of Asian-Americans.
Tickets for each night are $2 for Tuesday and Wednesday; Thursday's event is FREE.
All movies start at 7:00 PM.
************************************************************
On Tuesday, March 9th, we will be showing "Children of Invention", a film set in the suburbs of Boston about 2 children who are left on their own after their mother disappears.
On Wednesday, March 10th, we will be showing "The Namesake", a story of Indian immigrants and their American-born children.
On Thursday, Liberty in North Korea (LiNK) will be showing "Crossing", a film based on the true story of a North Korean man who has to go to China to provide for his family but has difficulty reuniting with his son when his country does not allow him to reenter.
(IMPORTANT NOTE: "Crossing" will be shown at Nyumburu Cultural Center Room #0120, the Lower Level Conference Room)

As a bonus, we will be drawing raffles for prizes at the end of each night! Each night we will be giving away a $10 gift card and a ticket to the Wong Fu Productions event on April 7th. (http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=338984777041&ref=ts)
On Thursday, we will be giving away a $25 gift card after keeping all tickets collected on Tuesday and Wednesday, so come out if you want to win!

All it takes is 5 minutes of your time, a form, and a cheek swab to save someone from a life-threatening disease like leukemia.
Minorities are under-represented in the registry drive. UMCP can change that. You can expand the registry and give hope to thousands of patients in need.
Bone Marrow Registry Drive is sponsored by the Cammy Lee Foundation, Hosted by Phi Delta Sigma Fraternity, Sigma Psi Zeta Sorority Inc, Taiwanese American Student Association, and TAO.
