Dear Clients and Colleagues:
The new professional Certificate in Art Collections Management, Registration
and Display that I've developed with New York University's School of
Continuing & Professional Studies (SCPS), launched in September 2011 and is
a great success. Please consider sending staff members who are registrars,
art handlers and anyone involved with the care, handling, movement and
installation of works of art and artifacts. We've added a new course this
term, Collections Management and Digital Technology. Classes begin in
February and can be taken individually at a modest cost.
This Certificate opens up a wide range of career opportunities in museums,
auction houses, galleries and private and corporate art collections. With
the expansion and growth of the global art and artifact market, there is a
growing need for trained specialists with the ability to manage, display,
install, handle and care for diverse collections. The Certificate in Art
Collections Management and Display includes course work in art handling and
registration methods; documentation and collections management policies;
basic conservation and preservation; digital technology and examination and
installation of works of art and artifacts. Students will gain the
expert-level understanding and technical knowledge to work with collections
of any size and medium.
Instructors include Stefanii Ruta Atkins, Head Registrar at the Museum of
Modern Art; Chuck Agro, Manager of Packing and Art Services at the
Metropolitan Museum of Art, William Ying, COO of ARTstor, myself, and other
specialists.

NYU in February.
