We have our vantage lite set up so that it syncs with my cell phone and my daughter can make calls or send test messages using her device.  She also cables the talker to my laptop or a computer at school and she can write and send emails, create word documents, power points, surf the net... all using her talker.  My computer isn't blue tooth set up otherwise you would be able to do that with out attaching the cord...

the vantage and vantage lite are dedicated devices.  They won't access the internet

or do other computer functions.  I believe you can use an aircard in them for cell phone access, though we don't do this with my kids.

You can find out more information about PRC devices at their website: www.prentrom.com

Hi Lisa or anyone familiar with the Vantage,

Do you know if the Vantage is a dedicated device or can you access the internet and use other software on it?  Also, does it have capability to pair with a phone on blue tooth so the user can text to their friends?  How can your users access the internet and send e-mails, etc using the Vantage?

    Thanks,

    Vicky

Our son uses the Vantage Lite device with Picture Word Power as his
    language system. Yes, you can connect to Bluetooth with the Vantage;
we have used it to place phone calls through my cell phone. I assume
you can use it to text in that way, also. Although the Vantage Lite
itself does not have the ability to access the Internet (it is a
dedicated device), you can use the Vantage to enter information into
Word or an email by connecting to your computer with a bluetooth
    adapter or a USB cable.

If your child needs computer access you might consider the Eco which uses
the same language system, but also has the ability to connect to the
    computer.

My daughter is an Eco user and has been successfully using PRC products
since the age of 3. She is now 9 years old and is fully included in
regular education which I am sure is partially because of her ability to
    communicate effectively with her device.

Actually – check with your PRC vendor, because the vantage and vanguard can act as keyboard emulators to a computer and the newer eco and accent have computers with very integrated functions - -
