| so far, the guys haven't been to an AAC camp. I hope to next year. They will have OT, water therapy and summer school, and will attend at least parts of PEC and the AAC institute symposium. They know several adults who use AAC, and this will give them a chance to see their friends again and be exposed to people who are amazing users of their devices. :) They already went camping--1/4 mile back in the woods in a 3 sided cabin with the 4th side open to the woods, and supper cooked over a campfire--they loved it! This was a guys only event, with all 4 of the boys and a teacher friend of David's who was brave enough to take part in the adventure. :) Josh is also on a mission to strengthen his walking. So he goes around the block in the morning, then takes another trip with the adult hauling a wagon, to pul him home when he can't walk any further. in addition, the boys generally want to bike to the playground(1/4 mile round trip.) their bikes are tandem bikes, so the adult still does a lot of the work, but they'll pedal at least 1/2 the way. Kendra's summer plans: She spends a lot of time playing SCHOOL with
her stuffed and imaginary friends. Her aide salvaged two remedial
text books and workbooks from the trash last week. So, she will
probably work on those all summer. She has been approve dfor 10 half
hour ESY speech services, that we will pick up another little boy in
our area that also gets 10, and drive the 40 minutes, each will get a
half hour therapy, then 40 minutes back. Then, we will probably watch
him until his mom gets off work. He is a twin, but his twin doesnt
have the problems he has. Maybe it will give him a little alone time.
Kendra is also working at learning to use Proloquo2go proficiently
before school starts. We just have her practice a few minutes a day.
Starting next week, when she starts ESY speech, I am hoping to
convince the speech therapist to not concentrate on articulation. I
HATE when they do that. Kendra has been in speech for 9 years, and
although she has gotten much better, she already knows HOW to say all
the words correctly, and can say them in speech. It is praciticng
talking and spontaneously she needs practice with. I liked the idea
of putting words to Mercer Mayer's wordless books. Maybe we can do
that, and work on the Eco and Intellitools, all at the same time,
along with articulation.
She also has a half hour of PT, OT, and SLP every other Monday still,
with private therapy.
We should be getting TestTalker next week, so she will have to
practice taking some tests and doing worksheets electronically.
She also bought a 12' easy set pool with her vacation money, so she
will be swimming every day, and probably 5 times a day, whenever
possible. It is only about 27" deep, so she has enough trunk control,
her siblings can supervise her if I have something to do in the
house.
And most importantly, we have to make a video of her using all her
techonology, and we will be compiling a book on how and what to use,
and when.
OY, the summer has barely begun.
For the fun stuff, we now have a whole chours of bull frogs out by our
pond at night (we counted 5 the other night). They are quite
entertaining, and very loud! There is a frog that lives in the pond,
along with the 4 fish that didn't die off in the algea attack/cleanup
Monday.

DS is doing an intensive block of Feldenkrais lessons over the month
of July, broken up by a week long camping trip.
Then we'll go back to our regular homeschooling program in August,
with a few day trips and picnics thrown in.

Funny of the week. The other day, we were on our way to go buy a
hamster for Kendra. I stopped, to do something, I forget what.
Kendra yelled "Drive, drive, drive, drive like you've never driven
before, whatever that means!" I just busted up laughing. ;)
Amazingly, it was all pretty clear verbally, because I understood the
whole sentence.

Actually only long enough to go through Walmart and buy the supplies,
LOL She has wanted one for a couple of weeks (since I killed her last
year's carnival fish out in the pond). We told her she had to wait
until pay day next week. But, being spoiled and having daddy wrapped
around her finger, she begged, and he said she could have one
Thrusday, after speech therapy. So, we were already in Walmart, and
bought a cage, fod, and what not. Then, we had to go to the pet store
to buy the hamster. She is just one very impatient child. Her speech
has really improved, but I still don't get about 5% of it, and that 5%
seems to bug the heck out of her lately. Hopefully this is where
Proloquo2go will help, with spontaneous speech.
