Hi,
Pau and I have just published our first book on the tar heel reader website. We are thrilled. We did it both in English and Spanish. He feels so proud of himself. I´m sure next monday he´ll be so happy to show everyone at school.
We have been working on this all summer. He chose what he wanted to say and we have first worked with symbols and photographs on a board until he knew it nearly by heart.
I´m glad I can share this with the wonderful people in this forum. You are my constant inspiration.
Thank you very much for being there.

Anna tell Pau that Lee and I both gave him 3 stars!  Great job!  We listen to it in both English and Spanish.  Lee wants to know does Pau know English?

Hi,
I´ll tell him first thing tomorrow morning. He´s sleeping right now. He knows very basic English ( colours, animals, numbers, some every day expressions) but he´s used to listen to it because we do lots of things in English like stories and other materials we find very motivating.
I´m afraid the Spanish version doesn´t sound Spanish at all so I´ve told Gary if we can do something to improve that, it so happens with most of the stories published in Spanish in this site. I would like to do something about it. I think it´s great the kids can listen to stories in different languages.
Thank you very much for your support.

Ana,  To Lee and me it sounded very Spanish :)  Lee knows some of the same words in Spanish colors, numbers, and some phrases.  He thinks we should go over for a visit LOL and we can go down the cool water slide and go fishing!  Got to love his ideas some days.  M-C

Maybe one day, who knows?. You´ll be very welcomed. How old is Lee, by the way? Pau is 10. We have beautiful beaches in our island. Maybe we could write a story for tar heel reader about our island....
Pau is so happy about the three stars you gave him.
He says thank you

Lee just turned 8 a couple of weeks ago.  Wow writing a book about the Island sounds like a nice idea you could take your own pictures and everything!  Today we have a big bake sale at the farmer's market with the scouts.....................of course it is raining out today :)  It really isn't about making money as more of teaching the boys about community and community service.  The money raised was going to be split 3 ways a part going to the local food pantry a part going to the friends of scouting and a part going toward our pine wood derby (Ana the boys get a kit and make a car and then race it down a track.  Google it you will see some great pictures.)  Maybe Lee and I should write a book about the process hmmmm got to think about that one.

M-C ps glad he was happy about the 3 stars.....Lee really wanted to give him 4.
