Amy,  Instead of telling them to use minspeak maybe you could say........thinking out loud gee I wonder if we could use her eco and see if she knows what catalogue it is under and that might trigger he thoughts to find the word?  Our son goes to Landmark and right now what they are teaching the kids is if you can't recall the word can you give the function and one fact about it.  That sounds what you are doing with Kendra at home with minspeak right?  Just a thought for you.

yes, I ask her, What category or subject matter are you talking
about? If I am directing her to the device, I always ask what part of
speech it is. Once we know that, we get some ideas of what words she
is trying to say.

I don't expect any of them to learn or know Minspeak. I would just
like to 1. actually have the Eco in front of her and on, at all class
times (except specials), as i have been there at various times, and it
is in her rolling milk crate in the hall. And this is stated in her
IEP that she is to have access to it for every class. and 2. To just
direct her to use the device, rather than play 20 questions with her.
I meet with them Friday morning. Shall see how that goes over.
