Monday I visited Gary and Linda. When I arrived and went to his room,
the room was empty - wall to wall empty. Fortunately a nurse was near
and directed me to Gary's new room - 430. Phew. Linda wanted me to
stay for a while because the case worker was coming in for a visit.
Gary also was very adamant that I remain so I stayed. Before the case
worker arrived I found out that they have Gary up and walking, with
help, for twenty minutes a day. I'm sure that time will lengthen. Of
course he protests but that is to be expected. The case worker arrived
and made sure that Gary was okay. She noticed that he has lost quite a
bit of weight. He used to weight 145 soaking wet and now he weighs
about 110. He does like Vanila ice cream. The case worker after we
talked for a while then went out and talked with the person on the
desk, a nurse I presume, and requested that Gary be given vanila ice
cream at least twice a day mixed with Ensure so that he will gain some
weight. After about 45 minutes or so the case worker was done with her
visit and I left shortly afterwards. Gary, Linda, and I prayed for a
while and I gave them my blessing. I told them that I was going on
vacation and would be back for a visit on Nov. 16.
If any of you wish to visit let me assure you that Gary is most
appreciative of visits. You don't have to stay for long. I do suggest
that you visit him after 4:00 P.M. because before that he is in
therapy and visitors, including me and Linda, are really not welcome
to be present during therapy because they need the persons full
attention.
That's about where we are for now.
