Subject: Disaster Capitalism (public meeting 2/13)

Hey folks:

Just wanted to let you know about the International Socialist
Organization's kickoff meeting for this semester. Feel free to forward
this to anyone who might be interested. It's a public meeting. Thanks!

Nathan

      DISASTER CAPITALISM

Since 1960, there have been seven recessions in the United States.

In the same period, the U.S. has fought the Vietnam War, the Gulf War,
and the current 'War on Terror,' in addition to numerous military
interventions.

Are these simply glitches in an otherwise workable system, or are these
crises inherent in capitalism?

Movements such as the Civil Rights movement, the Vietnam antiwar
movement, and the women's rights movement have demonstrated that while
reforms are possible and worth fighting for, they can be rolled back
even faster than they were won.

Join us for a talk and a discussion on the nature of neoliberalism and
capitalism, and how we can fight for the better world the courageous
movements of the past envisioned.

Wednesday, February 13th, 7:30pm,
Rockefeller Hall Room 103

Sponsored by the International Socialist Organization
