With over 70% of Americans opposing the war and 2 out 3 soldier urging for some type of withdrawal, we recognize that the Iraq war is not only a quagmire but a crime. We make the call for all students in Cornell University to mobilize for our planned events to voice their opposition to the War in Iraq.

Workshop: Imperialism in the Middle East in GSH 164

Why the US should get out of the middle east entirely.

Film screening: Sir! No Sir! in McGraw Hall 165

"In the 1960’s an anti-war movement emerged that altered the course of history. This movement didn’t take place on college campuses, but in barracks and on aircraft carriers. It flourished in army stockades, navy brigs and in the dingy towns that surround military bases. It penetrated elite military colleges like West Point. And it spread throughout the battlefields of Vietnam. It was a movement no one expected, least of all those in it. Hundreds went to prison and thousands into exile. And by 1971 it had, in the words of one colonel, infested the entire armed services. Yet today few people know about the GI movement against the war in Vietnam."

Followed by a discussion of the GI resistance movement today, and what we as students can do to help it grow.

Teach-In: The Case for Immediate Withdrawal in Kaufman Auditorium, GSH

A discussion on why we should fight to bring US troops home now as opposed to "phased withdrawal" or "redeployment."

* Saturday 9/29 *

There is a major demonstration in Syracuse on Saturday, September 29th that has been organized from the grassroots by activists from CAN, Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW), labor activists, and numerous antiwar groups from the upstate New York area. At any of the events, be sure to reserve your seat on the bus!
