We're going to try another hackathon day, since everybody (hopefully)
will have had their fill of talks at GLRB.

Social Meeting TONIGHT at 6:30pm at Pizza House

Hey guys, I know there have been a lot of email going back and forth.
In case there was any confusion, we're going to meet tonight at 6:30
at Pizza House for a casual meeting. I'll be going over interesting
things from MountainWest, and we'll decide on next month's meeting
time and content a whole month in advance!

Great Lakes Ruby Bash - Registration now open

We are pleased to announce that registration is now open for the Great
Lakes Ruby Bash to be held on Michigan State University's campus in
East Lansing, Michigan on Saturday, April 17th. The conference will
feature talented speakers from all over the Great Lakes region.
The ticket price is $20, and attendance is limited to 200 attendees.

I think setting it one week in advance is adequate. Last minute is just hard to do.

I have a question for those of you who don't like the meetings moving:
Is it that you want the meetings to be the same every month (ie. 2nd
Tuesday or something) or is it just that you want a meeting date set a
few weeks in advance and not moved on short notice?

I hate to say it but I completely agree with Carl. Trying to coordinate
the indvidual schedules of more than ten people is an exercise in
futility, and you're much better off just setting a date and asking
everyone to conform their schedules to *it* rather than the other way
around.

Very well said. I agree with the need for agility in shifting meeting times, when necessary. I do not find the a2rb meetings unimportant because they move. I'm grateful that we try to accommodate as many interested participants as possible. As the old adage goes (reformulated for this context): importance is in the eye of the beholder.

Carl,
I understand your frustration with the constantly changing meeting
times. Over the past year, the number of conflicts for people in the
broader tech community has grown a lot, and we've been trying to
accommodate that. Between the new tech meetups and other a2geeks
events, and the Lansing and Detroit ruby groups, it's been hard for us

Yes, in fact JP will be presenting KarmaCRM tomorrow at New Tech,
which is built with Ruby on Rails. TogoHealth will also be presenting
tomorrow, which is Rails as well.

OK. The response was clearly in favor of Thursday, so it's Thursday.
I'm wondering if we shouldn't make our Ruby Tuesdays, Thursday, but that's
something we can talk about at Pizza House... on Thursday.
For those that have Tuesday available, a2 NewTech will feature a few
startups that use Ruby/Rails.
