The sun rose this morning and was blood red behind the tremendous smoke
cloud that's covering the region as of late. They're saying it's arson
that's blazed more than 20,000 acres in less than a week's time over in
Esperanza. Frankly, people, I don't see how this is entertainment.
When you live in southern California there are many seasonal truths,
not the least of which is fire season. It is a yearly fact, not a
phenomenon. The land catches fire very easily out here; we're in a
desert climate; humidity in this neck of the woods is less than 20%.
This kind of thing infuriates me. It is so totally uncalled for, so
totally not funny. My thoughts go out to the families who lost homes
and loved ones, but it's not over yet.
