Subject: Artist's Guidelines (Artists PLEASE READ)
Each artist will receive a 2 inch wide by 12 inch long section of
#10 canvas coated twice with gesso to work on. You may use any medium
that you see fit, as long as it does not alter the edges of the canvas
and it is a durable medium able to withstand years (if not decades and
centuries). These sections of canvas will become the pieces of the
puzzle and so they all must fit together unobstructed. Please, no
material of any kind past the edges of the canvas. Each section will
visually be turned into pieces of the big picture. Your art will not be
cut into, however, we will be drawing in smaller
puzzle pieces, within each section piece, to artisticly symbolize all
that we are directly connected to.

Each piece will be assigned a number. You must agree to complete
your piece within 6 months or your number will be re-assigned. This
does not mean your art will not appear in the project when it is
eventually finished, it just means that you will be re-assigned a
different place on the canvas and someone else will get your place. For
instance, if you are first assigned #33 and you miss the six month
deadline, a new piece of canvas will be cut to take the spot you have
left open and your piece will be refitted once we receive
it. (For instance, your placing on the canvas could go from #33 to
#535, if you do not return your canvas within the six month time
period). This is to encourage people to return their pieces in a timely
fashion in addition to allowing for easy refference to your piece.
Each piece must be signed and dated (with the date you began and
the date you finished your piece) on the back (NOT THE FRONT).
You must agree to be a part of a public and private registry.

The public registry will contain your artist name and general
location and will be displayed and used during promotional events and
in promotional items, and on the website, in order to give all of the
artists the credit they deserve.

The private registry will contain your contact information and will be
kept private unless it to verify some legal aspect of the project. Your
information will not be knowingly bought
or sold.

4. You must agree to having your art become property of the project and
allow the project use it to promote and raise funds in relation to the
purpose of the project. This means that you will be giving the project
the right to display your work during any/all events and in/on any
promotional materials/items which include events and promotional
materials/items that involve sales. All profit from the sales of these
items, however, will go towards charitable funds or
back into the project. This project is not for profit!

5. All documentation sent with canvas, verifying that you have read and
agreed to the above terms, must be sent back with the finished piece of
canvas art. Your art cannot be included in the project without this
documentation filled out and signed.

6. The theme of this project is "A Piece Of My Heart" and that is the
theme of the artwork on the canvas. I simply want to see a piece of
your heart (or pieces, if you are doing more than one section) on the
canvas. I want each piece to represent who you are and what you are
about.

Please, be respectful towards the project goal which is to bring people
together rather than pushing them away and be mindful that people from
ages 7-107 will be participating and viewing this piece of art for
years (possibly decades and centuries) to come so I ask that you do not
send canvas art that represents illegal activities including but not
limited to pornographic material. I am an extremely open-minded person
but I want this project to be seen in as many places possible under the
best light possible and if I have to (by law) limit our audience to
ages 21 and over then the heart of the
project will be lost.

If you wish to contribute to the canvas art, please email me at
the_violet_butterfly@y... and I will add you to the canvas
mailing list.

There are many benefits to becoming part of this project of
monumental porportions and I welcome you to take part in it, as a
fellow artist and creative being but most of all as a part of the
bigpicture.
