A few of us talked after the 11am mass this past Sunday regarding the question of when to start our meetings. After some discussion, I was appointed to be the one to email.
So...we figured that the Thursday right after lent would be a good starting date, February 7. Unless, of course, someone can come up with a reason as to why this is not a good idea. I assume we would meet at OSM in the upstairs room.
Mike, we were wondering if you had the materials needed. If not, let us know? In addition, I guess we need to advise the appropriate OSM staff member that we need the room.
Finally, we should put a blurb in the bulletin. We would probably need to do this soon. Sonjia, any suggestions, as I believe you or Mike dealt with this the last time.
Hope everyone is well.

For the Lent Groups we have established our time as Thursdays, 7:30PM (to 8:30) in the normal upstairs room with the church, starting with Feb. 7th. Maryann Cushing will get me the Lent materials. I think she has also already put us down on the schedule so that we have access to the church, but I can of course check that as well.
There is a signup sheet in the commons at church (on the right as you walk in) and the priests are making regular announcements to have people sign up for Lent Faith Sharing Groups. If you are already on our e-mail list, no need to sign up, but I know that the list already has some new young adults on it, so let's use this as an opportunity to reach out to others. I know we usually have about 10 of us so I'll tell Maryann that our group is about 15.
Also we are scheduled to serve a simple meal of Soup on March 14th at the Recocillation service. I felt that Feb 8th was too soon for us to pull this off. Here is the deal from Maryann Cushing:
Soup, bread & butter, pop, water, cookies is served at 6:00. You need to arrive ahead of time to set up and be sure the soup is hot. OSM provides soup bowls, spoons, napkins, cups. (Ice may be available if the ice-maker is working.) Remember we don't have a stove, but we have two microwaves. The Reconciliation Service will begin at 7:15. We also have to clean up of course!
(Please note that Trinity and I are not available to help on March 14th as we will be traveling, but we will talk at our weekly Lenten meetings and help pull this off.)
The next Greater Food Depository is Feb. 9th. Let Herb know if you can join us at: barbh...@sbcglobal.net
Finally, after Lent we intend to continue our discussion in the Easter season, by possibly talking about a book that Bart can get for us called Googling God which comes from the Paulist Press. He can get us the books.
Any other thoughts, ideas, suggestions, keep them coming!
