Hi everyone,
Here's a message from the Young Adult office of the Archdiocese of Chicago. Looks like they have a nice site set up if you want to use it as a daily reflection during lent. In case the link doesn't work below here it is:
http://www.yamchicago.org/yam-faith-lent_Day1.htm
(I imagine they will have a new reflection each day)
Ok, so we have Ash Wednesday (figure the weather will be bad, so you might want to go mid-day if you work downtown or close by your home if you live far), I'll be at OSM as I have to lector.
Thursday we start our small group sharing. Maryann Cushing prepared some materials, to be honest I haven't seen them yet, I know they are there waiting for us. It is a program called "Finding God in our Busy Lives" I think this is good since it can give us a structure for the weeks of Lent. We can also always read the next week readings and do faith sharing as well, we can decide as a group.
We will have a few new people, as I saw a few new names on our sign up list. So let's keep reaching out and we have to make sure we get e-mail addresses to keep growing our list here. Keep reaching out to others after masses and get their e-mail address so we can connect.
Saturday is Greater Food Depository, meet at OSM parking lot by 8AM if you are interested.
Just to keep reminding everyone we are signed up for providing a simple meal of soup, bread and salad for Friday March 14th at 6PM (Trinity and I are out of town).
Did I miss anything? Hope to see you on Thursday! Enjoy Lent...
--Mike

40 Ideas for the 40 Days of LENT
Dear Mike,
Lent begins with Ash Wednesday on Feb. 6. This liturgical season offers us an opportunity to grow in our relationship with God and deepen our commitment to a way of life, rooted in the Lord Jesus Christ Lent provides us with an opportunity to reflect upon our way of life and the patterns and habits we have developed. Lent invites us to pray more deeply, thank God for our blessings, experience sorrow for what we've done and failed to do, and to be generous to those in need. We offer you "40 Ideas for the 40 Days of Lent" to assist your practice of this wonderful season of Lent.
Each afternoon we will post on the Young Adult Ministry Website (www.yamchicago.org) an idea for you for the next day of Lent. You will find a prayer, a suggested activity, a section of the Holy Scripture, and/or other spiritual ideas and teachings that follow the time honored traditions of our Catholic Faith.
