In each episode, teams of two race against each other in a place around the world. There are lots of different tasks and difficulties. One team arrives first and probably wins a prize and the last team is eliminated or penalized. What happens on the show is very predictable but the outcome is not.
I watched man vs. wild season 7 episodes 3,4,5
The role of music in the show is changing the mood of the scene. The music sometimes is fast, sometimes is slow. The aim of music changing fast because he find animal to eat. The aim of music changing slowly because it is night or he is tired. The music always happens in the show. I find out it is very important to show the mood of the story.
The sound changes depending on the mood of the story. The sound also changes depending on the environment or event. Example he ran in to a cobra snake, the music broke the silent, and changes to fast music.
The sound matches with character when the event happens or the scene of the show. Example he got rescue by sailor, the music changes to be peaceful.
The sound effect in the program are necessary because it effects the whole story and the mood. A show with sound or music is very boring. Example he went in to a cave to explore for way to come to back to human civilization.

Stage 2: Analysis of Form
In the Christmas I had seen a TV show called The Walking Dead, I had saw the episodes 1,2,3, in this show, I had heard some very scary, when the zombies came then people need to run and so much blood, and with fast beats, when there is no zombies then there will be so quiet, because there is zombie everywhere so it is so quiet. When it is in night, it is more scary, because we can see zombie everywhere. But sometimes there is morning and there is zombie we can see all the colors or body’s of zombies and there is no music so this show is not always scary.

I have watched Scam city by National Geographic Channel. This show is about how to prevent being scammed in large cities around the world. Those episode I watched is about Rio, Barcelona and Las Vegas.
The show’s form is like this, every time, the host would go to a place around the world to uncover the scams in those city which looks like the best place for tourist to be. The host would meet those person who do scams and try to be scammed so to teach us not to be scammed by using hidden cameras. Also, the host would usually meet a local police to know how serious the scams are in every place. The show also includes some parts where the host would try to scam someone, if successful, they would return those things scammed to the owners. This show uncovers the dark sides of the city known every day where tourists go. It is pretty interesting to see how the scam happens. This show is quite unpredictable because we don’t know if the scams can actually successfully happen. Also, those scammers may also be mad and start to fight with the host. In one of the episodes, the host met with people who make fake notes in one of the places and they were holding shotguns with them, very scary as we don’t know will they fire it, if the scammers do really fire the shotguns, it would be a crazy scenario.
There are no music background which are symbolizing feelings. In this show, music don’t play an important place.
Stage 2- Aaron Wang Y8J- Design Squad
During the holiday, I watched numerous episodes of Design Squad, a show about reality show about teenagers who are engineering and innovating. Whoever wins at the end of the season wins a $10000 scholarship. The episodes that I watch were Season 1 Ep. 1, 2, and 5. Episode one is called “The need for Speed”, where a professional racecar builder challenges the teams to make motorized drag racers out of kiddie toys. Episode two is called “Rock On”. In this episode, the teams have to create an original musical instrument for the local band, Off White Noise, who will use the instruments during a show. And finally, episode 5 is called “Got Game”, in which the two teams have to come up with a way to cover all the angles of a basketball game with remote controlled cameras. After watching the episodes on YouTube, I stared to notice a trend in the way the episodes were presented.
During the first season, the competitors are divided into 2 groups, one red and one blue. They are then given a task that involves creating a thing for the client. First they are given a time limit, a budget that they can spend on making the product, and a challenge given to them by the client. They first brainstorm as a team, think of the design of the product, and then they are given materials to build the product. To buy the materials that are not provided, half of each team go shopping for the required materials. They then have a few days of the build stage, during this time; the teams start to create their design. After the time is up, both of the teams present their product to the client and the client select the one that she or he likes the most. The team that won are then given points and the episode ends. Between each episode, the teams are scrambled which changes the playing fields and the way the competitors work with each other. This makes each episode different and unique, as the competitors have to work with people they may or may not work well with them while they learn to solve problems and compromise amongst themselves.
This show showcases the development of the competitors, how each one contributes to the team, how they can come up with innovated inventions for the client and how they react when things don’t go as according to plan.

What episodes did you watch?
From watching three episodes, you should be able to describe the “form” of the show. Bronwyn Williams describes the form: “The form of the program acts as a template for each week’s episode, so that any viewer gets to experience the essential form of the program time and again” (58). So, that means, describe a basic episode. What usually happens? To what degree are the shows that you are examining predictable?
What role did music / sound effects play in each episode? Are certain sounds associated with particular characters or themes? Are sounds matched to the mood of a character (or characters)? What do the sound effects add to the program — are they an integral part of the show, or just extra noise?
