In project week this year, I went a really long way to Hong Kong. Originally, I was going to South Korea but it was cancelled due to the war which has a chance to start. At last I stayed in Hong Kong in a twenty people trip, which we have normal school for two days and have trips for three days. We went to Tai O on the first day. I learnt that the people there have a really long history and they live on tilted houses, which the houses are supported with wooden sticks that stands on water. The next day, we went to Nan Lian Garden, which is the most boring day. We walked for two hours and at last ate a vegetarian meal. On the third day, we went to Lamma Island. From there I learnt that there are many different species of fish in Hong Kong and we need to protect them. There is also an activity there which is fishing with no hook. We found it impossible since the fish there will eat the bait before we can even pull the fish up. I think the food there is great. The seafood is tasty and I really enjoyed it. I will recommend this trip to everyone, in any age group. But I think the trip to Nan Lian Garden can be excluded.

In this year's project week I stayed in Hong Kong and the main task of it was base on creating a app that could be use in the school library, other than that we have also visit the Cathy Pacific City, Hong Kong Productivity Council and the Hong Kong Science Park, through the week, we are also needed to prepare for our presentation at the last day of the trip, to find out whether our app is useful to the school library or not, some of my friends has participate in the Hong Kong project week as well, but they were on the another group, In this trip, most of the activities was done in the school library, so the foods wasn't really special , since we have our lunch in the cafeteria.

In this trip, we have learnt how to create our own apps by using the software xcode, we have also visit the Cathy Pacific City and it was located somewhere near the Hong Kong Airport, on the third day of the trip we had also visit the Hong Kong productivity Council and we had learnt how water was being reused. I find the app activity the most interesting, because we could learn how to use the software xcode, there is both positive and negatives and for negative, I think the presentation in HKPC wasn't good enough, because It was not clear, through this trip,  we also find out that Mr.Slosberg was really good on creating apps.

For recommendation, I would like to recommend this trip to the year 7 students , because I assume that they wouldn't know how to run the software xcode and I think they would find creating apps interesting .

On this year's project week I went to Prague, Czech Republic. We have to take two flight each time from Hong Kong to Czech Republic, the airline is called Luthansa, first we have to take the flight to Frankfurt and then to Prague, we spend 12 hours of plane go to Prague. Some of my friends are going to Czech too, for example Anson Lee, Ho Wang, Milton Suen, Matthew Yik. In Czech we discovered how the Nazi are torturing the Jewish in the concentration camp, the life of Mucha and how people are beat in the Prague spring and the university students in the revolution in 1989. I think the positive things about this trip is that this trip is very comfortable, because in this trip we got an opportunity to get on a boat and enjoy the view and very visit about at least 6 museum. The negative thing about this trip is that I think this trip involved alot of walking, the weather is not so good sometimes hot sometimes cold and the food wasn't so good as well. The funny thing happen in this trip is that we saw the teacher dances infront of us in the boat.

The Kingdom of Music

Germany is famous for its wonderful food , historical culture and well known-music. I have visited Germany twice before and I was always longing to be able to visit such a beautiful place for the project week trip. This year, I finally got the chance to visit famous cities in Germany, including: Berlin, Munich, Bonn and Frankfurt. There are 30 students and 4 teachers (Mr. Karena, Mrs. Murchie, Mr. Millard and Ms. Taylor) in the trip. We left for Frankfurt on 20th April and returned home at three on 28th April, 2013. This trip was a music tour, therefore, we have performed in Bonn and visited a lot of attractions or things relating to Music, for example: Beethoven House, Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, The Blue Man Show, etc.

I have learnt a lot of things in the educational music tour, especially about German History. I have learnt that Berlin is divided into two parts, East Berlin and West Berlin. The East Berlin was taken by Soviet Union (communism), while the West Berlin was controlled by USA, France and Great Britain (democracy). When the wall was built, families were forced to break up. There are many people trying to escape in ordere to reunite with their families. However, most of them are unsuccessful. However, little amount of lucky people managed to escape through the wall.

Another fact I have learnt from the trip is about the sachsenhausen concentration camp. The sachsenhausen camp was built from 1936 to 1945, which killed more than 200 000 people using different horrible ways. People staying in the sachsenhausen camp is even worse than the people living in the jail. The German used weird tests to test the people in the concentration camp, for instance: they use some people to test for the best place to shoot their neck. Another fact that I learnt was a funny fact in Munich. In Munich, many people wore traditional clothes on the streets. They are called: Dirndi Dresses (for Girls) and Lederhose (for Boys).

I especially like the time I stayed in other people's houses in Bonn. I stayed with my partner, Karina in an Indian lady's house. The house was very big, like the ones in Canada. I had a great time with the hosted families as we shared a lot about our cultures. I especially enjoy  the meal the Indian lady cookied for us. The Indian lady was a vegeterian, while I do not eat some kinds of meat. My favourite food was Spätzle. Spätzle is a German Traditional Pasta which has a special shape.

Although my Germany trip was excellent, there are some parts that I don't really like about it. Although I enjoy the food in Germany, I personally think that we have too much freedom in choosing our own food. In Germany, we were given 10 - 20 dollars for each meal and we can buy whatever food we would like to eat. However, I would not find a good restaurant in that short period of time. Also, we all have to eat sandwich because we did not mange to find a good place to eat. Luckily, the food I bought are all vegeterian and are healthy.

There aren't a lot of funny facts happened in my trip. However, there are some facts that I learnt are quite funny (not quite, but at least... weird). The Neuschwanstein Castle was built by King Ludwig II. Although he spent a lot of money on the castle, he only lived in the castle for 172 days and when he died, the castle wasn't even complete yet!

Overall, it is a fun trip. I would recommend this trip to whoever who likes music. If you like music, you would enjoy every piece of this trip. Otherwise, I suggest you go to somewhere else since it would be very boring if someone are not interested in music.

Prague: Czech's Cultural Capital
Ian Lee

Prague's a pretty cool city; I guess. There's a lot of fun cultural landmarks and locations worth visiting but if you're not interested in architecture or history Prague really won't be your vacation location of choice. But now I'm getting ahead of myself; I'll begin with the basics...

For my second annual project week, I decided to hitch a trip to Prague in the Czech Republic, seeing that most of my friends (Jerry and Ho Wang, plus some other pretty cool people) are traveling to Czech as well, I was inevitably destined to tag along with them on this tour. Our overseas flight to Prague was not a linear one, we had to take a long flight to Frankfurt in Germany before taking another shorter flight to Prague; the airline we're taking is a German airline called Lufthansa, the interiors of their planes are luxurious and comfortable, but they hardly had any films and television shows available on their in-flight television monitors and I was forced to watch Skyfall twice. TWICE. It was pretty frustrating when you have nothing to do in a flight that lasts about 9 or 10 hours, by my returning trip I was nearly bored to death.

Moving on; let's take a look at what happened when our planes finally landed in the pavements of Prague. Upon arriving to Prague, our friendly tour guide told us a bit of trivia about the old city, here's a few: the city was occupied by the Nazis in the past during World War II, the buildings are built with varying architectural styles and some houses date back to the 16th or 17th century and Prague used to be multiple different towns linked together as one. Prague was a beautiful city, filled with various architectural wonders and magnificent buildings, I felt as if I was lost in an old fairy tale set in the medieval times or something; we visited the old and new towns, and both of the towns are so different in terms of architecture and attractions, too.

However, all was not perfect in the beautiful city of Prague, prices for soft drinks and simple accessories are sky-high, with an average bottle of Coke costing about 40 crowns, which roughly translates into 16 HKD. Nothing funny happened in Prague because the soda prices are way too high. (Believe me, I will never stop ranting about the soda prices in Prague. Do you know how thirsty I was THE WHOLE TIME?)

In conclusion, Prague is a great city for any young and inspired artist, if you want to explore a city full of history and wonder, grab a plane ticket to Czech's capital, pack your bags and get ready for the thrill (and boredom, since you're going there via Lufthansa) of your life.
Bring plenty of money though because the soda prices are really high.

PW Czech Republic

This year I went to Prague, Czech Republic. We have to take two flight each time from Hong Kong to Czech Republic, the airline is called Luthansa, first we have to take the flight to Frankfurt and then to Prague, we spend 12 hours of plane go to Prague. Some of my friends are going to Czech too, such as Edwin Cheng, Ho Wang, Milton Suen, Matthew Yik and Jerry Wong etc. In czech we go to Mucha museum visit the drawing, Concentration camp is another place that we go and there in a long time ago they will lock the enemy to the jail and pretend they are slaves last fact that is the graffiti spraying they will be feel freedom while they during spray. The positive thing that i like is the park and we go there playing bombers car etc. The negative thing of this trip is very hot in Czech and the weather is not steady and the funny thing of this trip is all of the teachers dancing Kiyomi in the boat.

For the recommendation i will assume Y7 to go because there is some funny park to play and there have many electronic games and bombers car.

Many people in my homeroom class chose to go to London and Paris, Hong Kong and New Zealand. All of them are good traveling locations. I went to the Heart of Europe- Czech Republic with Anson, Edwin, Milton, Ian and a lot of my friends that are not in this class.  Czech Republic is a young country formed in 1st January, 1993. It is also the most healthy country in Europe.

This trip starts with a long flight across Europe with a flight company called Lufthansa. Because it is impossible to get there with a direct flight, we have a transfer flight in Frankfurt. We saw a lot of famous tourist hotspot there such as the Prague Castle and the Museum of communism. Our tour guide, AKA Irene ( Same name as Ms.Tsui)  gave us a lot of information, in fact, I can remember some of them even now. For example, the Prague castle is now used for the place where the president of Czech is, he only works five days a week.

I think this trip is quite cool because we can see the history of the country while also admiring the art of the city. The city have so many kinds of architecture that you would be totally amused. A positive thing about the trip is about the currency. 1 Crown Equals to 2.5 HKD. It is quite cheap. 1 coke there is around 20 Crowns. After converting it into HKD, 1 coke in Czech costs about 8 HKD, which is a reasonable price.

A negative thing about this trip is that there are not much restaurants that have free water. We need to pay for water. Most of the people in this trip are surprised about that, in such developed country, why there is no free water? It is madness, luckily, 1.5L of water costs about 1.8 HKD.

A funny thing that happen during the trip is that while on the boat tour on the river Vltava, we had a surprise birthday party for Jeremy and Linda. Jeremy bought some cream and some of the girls took it and sprayed it all over his face, even on his glasses and making him look like Santa Clause. On the lower deck of the boat, all of the teachers are singing Kiyomi, even Mr. Hui and Mr. Wong did it too! It was such an enjoyable time.

I would recommend people to not to bring long sleeved clothes to Prague as it is not a cold place compare to Europe. It is about 18-24 degree Celsius so do not be fooled by the TV’s news reports. In conclusion. I want to recommend this trip to those who love art. You would see different forms of art, Architecture, Church, Painting etc. and those who love art would enjoy this very much.

The whole point of this trip is to let us see and help the culture and the animals in Langkawi and expend our comfort zone. Our trip have 70+ students (Y6-Y8), we split in two big groups, group A and B. A and B have different traveling schedule and different instructor from Dragonfly. I was in group B and our instructor were Jenny, Colin and Tan. Lots of Y7 and two Y8 girls were fall in love with the male instuctor Colin, which I found kind of funny because he wasn’t that handsome or good-looking! There was three main things that this trip taught us. Pointing with our index finger is extremely rude in Malaysia, there’s also remembered that 150 kind of butterflies and 200+ kind of birds in Langkawi because it have most of the rain forrest in Malaysia. It was a very tough week, the weather was hot, bugs everywhere! Luckily Jenny gave us riddle everyday which keeps us thinking through out the week. Also, we took a lot of funny pictures of our friends, Monique, when she was sleeping. I love the food and people there, they are so friendly and helpful. My favourite place to visit was the water fall, batik art and the shopping area! I recommend this trip to people (12 - 60 yrs old) who love animals and nature, I wasn’t that enthusiasm before the trip, but this trip expended my comfort zone.

In project week this year, I stay in Hong Kong. Originally, I was going to South Korea but it was cancelled due to the war which has a chance to start, so I got to stay in Hong Kong for these five days, I’ve learn a lot about poverty in Hong Kong. And also I’ve learn how to communicate with my group mate and the primary students. The positive thing about this trip is now I know how to make a power point that the primary will easily understand. The bad thing about this trip is the trip is so boring because we can’t get out of the school for once, nothing really funny in this trip. My recommendation for this trip is to let us get out of the school for lunch, the school lunch sucks

In this year's project week, I went to Czech Republic and its main themes are art and humanities. The main activities are visiting museums and church. The jewish and the Catholic churches are in the majority. The most eye-catching jewish church is written down all the victims that died during the period from 1933 to 1945 while Adolf Hitler has taken control of the Germany. Lots of coffins are hidden under the garden around the jewish churches. Some of the coffin have symbols on top it, the symbol was determined by their names. Only people contributed to the community have large coffins. The Nazi brought lots of jewish to the concentration camp and torcher them with brutal force. The most famous torcher is the gas chamber, they died within an hour. There are lots of baroque style building surrounded czech, the Baroque style was started in Rome, Italy.
The breakfast and the lunches were really tasty. The soft drinks are pretty expensive but it's worthy to pay because most of the cokes have more gases than the ones in Hong Kong.
The tour guides were being very kind to us in the trip, they both taught us lots of history of czech like the communist party has taken over the czech before...
The eaten dinners taste very bad, except for two nights that we ate dinner outside of the hotel. You get to pay if you want to have drinks while eating, and the damage is heavy.
All the teacher in Czech were dancing Gwiyomi together during the boat restaurant, its very funny that Mr.Wong is very shy and turn his back against us until the song ends.
I recommend that you must go to czech because the atmosphere in Europe is completely different to hong Kong, their life style is different to us and the way to enjoy life is to relax and do things slowly. You can gain lots of knowledge after you went to Czech because Czech has taken over by lots of different party like Communist and Nazi party.

For this year's project week, I went to Langkawi, Malaysia. Athena and Melody went with me as well. Melody, Charlotte (a Y7) and I share the same room and Athena shares a room with Monique (a Y8 - also a good friend). The instructors (not tour guides) were from an organization called Dragonfly. Their names were Jenny, Colin and Tan. The four of us were good friends with Jenny and she gave us a minimum of one riddle each day for us to think about. I thought that was something verbally and mentally fun. We've got loads of physically fun stuff going on too. All of our events for the week were physically fun, except the night of wild camping. The toilets were horrible. We had to pee into the river and poop in the sand! It was roasting in the tent too, and Melody and I had to take turns beating the fan for at least half an hour. There were lots of mosquitoes (not only that night) and even more sand. But I liked the dinner that night, because its process was fun! We had to cook macaroni in tomato sauce with tuna and mushrooms and we even had to cut the veggies ourselves. It was naturally dark, but it was very enjoyable because we got to use our flashlights! I also liked the kayaking. We kayaked to the camping island and back. The sun was blazing and it was very tiring, but it just made dipping our feet in the water more comforting. Batik painting was really fun too. I liked how the different colours blend and stick together automatically. All our patterns and colours were beautiful and comforting too. I also greatly enjoyed all the water games, like kayaking as I've mentioned before, but also sliding down slopes (which were more like natural water slides) and swimming in the pool in the hotel. We played water ball games in the pool and I didn't loose! I thought the food there was especially tasty too, but I also found out there was mango juice and orange juice every single day. Apparently Langkawi loves yellowish and orangish fruits. They also find pointing with the thumb and doing things with the right hand is much more respectful. There are also much more butterfly and bird species than in any where in the world. Langkawi also got its name from a beautiful eagle, which we saw at least two times during the week. And guess what, the instructors said this week's events were designed for people with the age of 14 or over! Barely one percent of the entire 70+ people participating met that requirement! So basically, I think this trip is fine for people 12-14 and 20-27 years old, but best for 15-19 years old participants. Even though all the activities and events were outdoors and it was very, very hot, I've enjoyed this trip a lot!

For project week I went to Langkawi, Malaysia! I chose this trip because last year I went to Spain and it's all about looking at beautiful art and museums but this time, the theme is adventure and community service, so I thought it would be kind of cool to try something different this year.
There were 70+ people going on the trip, (teachers included). I was with my good friends Natalie, Melody and Monique, Marion and Michelle. We were all pretty tight. We had huge amounts of laughs between the six of us. Before we could actually get to Langkawi, we had to take a plane to KL(Kuala Lumpa) and then transfer to Langkawi. We had four plane rides in total and I sat with the same boy for all four rides. Wow. Let's just say it definitely was no stroll in the park, that's for sure. We were separated into two groups - Group A and Group B. I was in group B with my friends. Our instructors (not tour guides) are responsible for a outdoors organization called Dragonfly. The staff in-charge of our group B is Jenny, Colin and Tan. Jenny is British, Colin is Hong Kong and Tan is full blood Malaysian. The trip is very physical and tough but it's very enjoyable and fun and it's really worth the work. We went on a hike in a beautiful rain forest, went swimming at the end of a waterfall, went bird watching, planted trees, painted a batik, went kayaking, went camping, camp cooking, sleeping in a tent, went souvenir shopping and most importantly, we ate:D But we didn't do all that in one day XD Anyways, three facts about Malaysia is that 1. It's a very Muslim country, so women will be wearing a cloak of some sort and be covered from head to toe, they are only allow to see, other than that completely covered. 2. Because people didn't have tolite paper back in the olden days, so they would use their left hand to clean their bums and eat with their right hand. So it is extremely impolite to shake someone's hand, accepting or giving something to someone with your left hand, cause it's dirty and disrespectful. 3. There are 151 species of butterflies in Langkawi. The trip was really fun, I got to lose weight and help the community, how great is that! Also the food there is amazing and delicious. My favorite part of the trip was painting batik, kayaking and eating. I didn't enjoy sleeping in a tent when we were camping, I was covered in salt water, I was wet from head to toe, it was hot and couldn't shower that day, there were bugs, insects and really large bees buzzing around, it was raining and worst of all.... I couldn't sleep. That was definitely was down for me. Also there are a lot of bugs and insects in Langkawi, so your bound to get a mosquito bite one way or the other.  The instructors are really funny, we always had a laugh or two. Jenny would give us daily riddles and she's really funny and cool. Also between the six of us, we are really close so we can act silly and random and just be ourselves in front of one an other. We would always laugh during breakfast, lunch and dinner, during activities, during any time actually:) Our friend (who shall not be named), she always sleeps on the bus and Melody and Natalie secretly take pictures of her when she's sleeping, so that was pretty funny! I seriously recommend this trip to anyone who is active and up for a challenge. The whole purpose of this trip is for us to step out of our comfort zone, so it would become bigger and bigger and we can get to experience more different things and challenges. It was an amazing experience for me and a memory that will never be forgotten:D MALAYSIA RULESSS:DD

In this project week, I have join the PW14 which is going to the yosemite park which is locate at California. The trip is for 9 days, day 1 we have take 14 hours of plane to SFO, after will have transfer from the airport to the san francisco harbor. We have also visit the yosemite park for 4 days, the area of the park is 1,190 sq miles big, which is 3 times bigger than hong kong. I like the park because I think that the water fall in the park is very beautiful and incredible, it is like the best thing in the world, second the weather in the park is perfect, the air is fresh. But I dozen't like the bed in the park because it is very hard and uncomfortable. Second I hate the toilet cause it is very far from our tent cabin and the slower there is not hot. The funny thing is Joseph almost fell into the lake when we are cycling because is goofing around in the path. The second thing is donny was scared by me and Ian because we are knocking the door at the night and we are pretending a bear to scare him. I will recommended the trip to the year 8 because I think many student will like it.
