I need something like the above linked item for my maze-solving robot.
I've never ordered from polulu.  Where can I get something like this part locally?
If I can get a ball bearing that would be enough, I can make a housing.

Thank you!

Check Lee's.  I noticed he's quietly stocked up on robot moving parts, but doesn't always show it on the website.

The other option is to take a roller-ball deodorant and hack it.

Princess auto often has big honking farm-equipment versions. Otherwise, you may want to just 3d-print a rounded caster post.
Oooh, also check on lazy-susans at the dollar store or value village; sometimes they are a ring of trapped bearings in a nylon holder that can be chopped into many little castors like that.

It's not local, but Solarbotics has a bunch of stuff in Calgary that would save you the border hassles.

Hi Dan,

Looked again and noticed that the roller you require is a much smaller diameter than the ones I posted a link for.  For another project, I recently purchased 100 3/8" ball bearing on eBay for less than $10.  I don't need that many.  If you only need a few and can make your own housing then I can give you a few of mine.

The solarbotics guys have them in the right size but I'm not terribly keen to pay 3.99ea+shipping.
Anyone know of a local source for a 3/8" ball bearing?  I can make my own housing.

Thanks,
Dan

if you need a few for now, there should be a box in the space containing some. I'll help you find them if you're there tonight.

Most woodworking tool stores sell those.

Oh, thank you!  I only need a few for prototyping and then I'll find a source for bearing + housing.

There's a place on Hastings, on the north side, just west of Commercial,
behind the bus stop that would probably have that, they sell casters, wheels,
carts etc. Just not sure if they'd have one small enough for you, most of
the stuff I've seen through the window is large, industrial stuff.
