After reading this page (http://www.xrobots.co.uk/coating/) about how you can treat Plastazote with PVA and resin, it gave me a great idea for a costuming project, and I’d like to get some of this stuff.

Apparently you can get Plastazote from Norseman out in Langley, but I know there’s a few costume people in VHS, and I have a suspicion this stuff probably is more popular than I originally thought. Has anyone sourced Plastazote or an equivalent expanded polystyrene foam locally?

If not, would anyone like to go in on a purchase together through Norseman (I’ve heard there’s a $150 minimum purchase).

The easiest place to get EVA foam is from Canadian Tire - they sell it as flooring tiles for workshops. It's quite thick at about 1/2" - if you want thin (~3mm) EVA foam you can get it from Michaels, and medium (~6-7mm) eBay is a good bet.

Coating EVA foam with Plastidip spray cans works well for painting, but yeah you don't get the hard plastic look (but can make very realistic looking metal armour still, as it does look more like painted metal than plastic would).
