Subject: VWJHS Tuesday News 6/16 Day 3
1.  A reminder that today will be an informational meeting for any
boys entering grades 7,8 or 9 who plan on playing football for Van
Wyck or John Jay next school year.  The meeting will be immediately
after school in the gym.

2.  We will be having a cupcake bake sale during the dance this Friday
to  benefit Keano Munoz.  We are looking for donations of cupcakes (or
other  baked goods) to sell.  If you are willing to contribute, it
would be  greatly appreciated, just drop the baked goods off at the
school anytime  Friday.  Thank you so much for all of your support
this  year!!  Today is the last day to purchase a ticket during your
lunch period.

3.  Attention all Students and Staff. The yearbooks have arrived.  You
MUST have your receipt to pick up your yearbook.   Each day the books
will be distributed to one grade level.

We will be distributing yearbooks today to 7th Graders ONLY! You may
pick up your yearbook, with your receipt, today during your lunch
period, in the cafeteria lobby.There will be no exceptions.

Tuesday, June 16th, 7th Graders only, yellow receipt
Wednesday, June 17th, 6th Graders only, blue receipt
Thursday, June 18th, Anyone who has lost their receipt can pick up
their yearbook on Thursday, June 18th, during their  lunch period.  If
there are extra yearbooks you will be able purchase one on Thursday
also.  The cost is $25, cash only.

4.   All library books must be returned.  If your library account is
not clear, you may not receive your yearbook.

5.  The John Jay Girls Basketball Team will be running a summer
basketball camp July 20th-23rd at John Jay High School.  The camp is
open to any girl entering 5th through 9th grade.  The camp will cover
all aspects of the game of basketball.  This will be a great
opportunity for young players to work with the Varsity team and
coaching staff to help build proper fundamentals and become a better
basketball player.  For more information please see Mr. Brooks at

6.  Van Wyck JHS will be offering hip hop and jazz funk dance classes
of all levels during the month of July.  Please see your P.E. teacher
for a permission slip.

7.  Continuing Ed is offering summer camps for students in grades 1-9.
Camps include dance, yoga, theater, Spanish, art, science, golf, Tae
Kwan Do, & band. Flyers are available in the school lobby or go to the
WCSD website and click on Continuing Ed. Or call  298-5000, ext. 137

8.  The Mid-Hudson Children's Museum is currently recruiting youths
between the ages of 12 and 17 to participate in the June thru November
2009 session of the Youth Volunteer Program.  This will be the 18th
session of the program. This program helps teens develop socially,
learn job skills, gain responsibility, and achieve a feeling of self
confidence and independence.  Each session consists of a select group
of 20-25 teans from Dutchess County.  Please contact Kate Daley, Youth
