Va Guzziesti,
The National Guzzi Relay baton is here in Virginia. Dean Rose had
volunteered for this leg, but hurt his back & couldn't ride, the
schedule got out of whack & the baton got hung up in North Carolina. I
rode down to Wake Forest yesterday & picked it up from Mark
Seagondollar. For those who are not familiar with the relay, it was
initiated as a fund raiser for the National Injured Riders Fund, and
as a way to build Guzzi enthusiasm across the country. The "baton" is
an engraved Guzzi "bacon slicer" flywheel. It was launched from
Carrillo State Park, Malibu California, 10:44 am April 10th 2008 and
has made its way, from Guzzi rider to Guzzi rider across the country.
The intention is that it be back in California at the Guzzi National
rally next month. For more details, pictures, etc. go to

Clik on "journal" for the pictures. The map of the route so far is at:

After a 300+ mile ride mostly in the rain yesterday, I ALMOST got home
before the battery in the EV died. The bike made the last 5 miles on
the trailer, bummer. So, I'll be firing up the Eldo to take the baton
up on the parkway for some pictures today. The next rider scheduled is
Nick DiCroce from New Jersey. Nick is available Saturday afternoon,
Sunday, & most of next week, he would like to make the baton pass in
Frederick Maryland. I'm looking for a volunteer to meet me anywhere
within about 100 miles of Lynchburg & carry the baton up & make the
pass to Nick. As noted, his schedule is flexible, so the baton could
be held for photo ops, dealer visits whatever. Each relay rider is
free to use his or her imagination. If you'd like to get in on this
please email or call me
