Personally I do not see how giving away tax money to individuals will
enhance school funding. A loss of funds is a loss of funds, period. The
Voucher People are using faulty logic to explain their beliefs on this
issue. School funding issues are often explained by simplifying it to a
per pupil spending amount. This does not mean that that amount is
actually spent on each individual child. Almost all of the money goes
toward buildings, grounds, salaries, utilities and other general
factors, it is not collected or spent on a per pupil basis. The Voucher
People think that since we account for the money on a per pupil basis
that they should get the major chunk of that money if they take their
kid out of a school. To give an individual a voucher for $2000 to $2500
is nonsensical because: 1. It takes that amount from the school
district or school budget for buildings, grounds, salaries, utilities
and other general factors, thus seriously hurting the public school
system. 2. The amount actually spent on each individual student is very
small, significantly smaller than the proposed voucher amounts.

You are right about this, it makes more sense than other things I've
heared.
You have my vote this November. I'm in your district.
