Good Morning,
I would like to thank the hardy souls who agreed to sing at Vineyard
yesterday evening for the earthquake victims benefit: Jie Smith, who
organized our involvement and sang in our praise group; Steve Ater,
soloist and group leader; Sharon King and Mike Smith, soloists; and
Todd Searing, and Connie Wilson, backup singers. We were the only
group that used live accompaniment. Vineyard provided a keyboard for
my use. Thanks to all who stepped way outside their comfort zone to
learn a new contemporary Christian song which was arranged on the fly
with very short rehearsal time to be offered on the big stage at
Vineyard. Thanks also to Richard King for his loyal support even
though we wouldn't let him sing and made him move back a row to
accommodate us. Richard was still in awe of the wonderful Vineyard
facility as we were leaving.
We were also inspired by the poetry, dance and singing offered by the
other participants, including a very agile Chinese man in his eighties
who put the rest of us to shame with his balance and poise as he
performed a traditional Chinese sword dance!
Thanks be to God!
Gordy
